“DEEEECEMBERRRRR!!!!” *screamed in Oprah voice…my favourite month of the year, mainly because it’s my birthday month. Heh heh. I welcome December, despite me hating the cold. It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas parties, birthday celebrations for moi, spending time with friends and family as we celebrate this most loving of holidays.

Sunday night, I attended the Nordstrom Holiday Party with my girl Katrina. We shopped, we sipped, we danced and made friends with the tiniest and most adorable of photobombers.
Nordstrom’s private parties are always a sight to behold and very well-attended, so if you get an invite, you better bring it.
I wanted to look good, but comfortable too. Trust me, I’m very ok with sacrificing comfort for style – haha – but I had just finished driving five hours from Toronto and this Little Dom couldn’t bear the thought of anything too cinched, tight, cleavage-y, annoying, off-the-shoulder, fidget-worthy…you get it.

Wading through my closet, I settled on a casual little black sweatshirt dress that I got from Tobi. Super soft and not restrictive in the least, it was perfect…except for one little thing: it’s criminally short. I normally pair it with jeans or leather leggings, but for the holiday party, I wore it with a favourite mini skirt from Sympli Clothing. The look was pretty hot! Not bad for an outfit that was thrown together in 5 minutes!

Sock boots have quickly become “a thing”, so I nabbed a cute pair from Aldo on Cyber Monday. These boots are the best Cyber Monday purchase ever. They were a total impulse buy, with me being drawn to the little “Love” message on the boot accompanied by red hearts. LOVE!!

The boots went over super well with people at the party and major bonus – they were pretty comfortable up until the third hour of me teetering around on the marble floors.

So, this is my first look of the Christmas Party season and I’m having fun pulling together more party-appropriate outfits for the flurry of events I have on the calendar. Speaking of which, Zara is KILLING IT in the party dress department.
What trends are you excited to where for the December party circuit?
*Thank you to Tobi for the dress in exchange for my honest opinion.
