Before I get into this review, I thought I’d share some skincare facts that I’ve learned about myself over the past year:
- My skin loves moisture – something that I’d overlooked for years due to me thinking that moisturizing oily skin is counterintuitive. Once I found a great moisturizer and started “creaming up” regularly and generously, my skin thrived.
- My skin loves birghtening products. If I don’t exfoliate regularly, my skin can get dull and lacklustre. My skintone is also quite uneven (pale spots, acne scarring, etc). Good brightening products have really helped me maintain a good glow and achieve a more even look.
I’m proud to say that I now get a lot of compliments on my skin. I’ve found a routine that really works for me and I’m sticking to it. In true beauty blogger form though, I like trying out new things and hang on dearly to those that are great.
I was sent a few products from Swiss Line by Dermalab to try out. And hey – I was thrilled. This line, which just so happens to be the little sister line of favourite La Prairie, is supposed to be gold. Something about those European skincare lines, I tell ya. Amazing!!
Swiss Line is aware that 21st century skincare now includes just more that “face” creams. People are using a combination of cosmetics, injectables, plastic surgery and good nutrition to look their best. Swiss Line’s products are formulated to work on their own and with invasive skincare procedures.
What Did I Hope To Get Out Of This Line?
As mentioned before, I’m pretty happy with where my skin is now, but always on the path to improvement, I wanted to look bright, even and well-hydrated. I also wanted to curb shininess a little without losing the dewy glow. The Force Vitale and Cell Shock White lines sounded perfect for me.
First up, I tried the Force Vitale Aqua-Pure Enzymatic Mask. Made with various plant extracts mixed with pharmaceutical grade ingredients, this product promises to improve the look of oily/combination skin in addition to working to counteract the causes of oiliness.
The mask was lovely to apply – not thick, cakey and dry like other products. It has a fresh, minty smell. This mask offers a pleasant tingling and refreshing sensation too.
One thing I cannot stand about some face masks is the fact that they feel like they are sucking all of the moisture from your soul, pretty much. This one felt quite nice, didn’t leave my face feeling like it was going to crack, and was easy to wash off.
I left this purifying mask on for 10 minutes and then rinsed off. My skin felt really soft and supple, and definitely looked brighter.
After using the mask, I applied the Force Vital Aqua-Pure Clarifying Serum to my face and neck. This serum is really, really nice! I was a little worried about using mattifying products. So many that I’ve tried in the past are so harsh and drying. This feels like it’s loaded with moisturizers. It left my skin feeling very hydrated and looking dewy. Freshly scented, it also had a really nice refreshing feel like the mask.
The Force Vitale line is made with Edelweiss, Coltsfoot, and Yellow Gentian – three ingredients that are reknown for their moisturizing properties. In addition, Force Vitale also includes various tree plant extracts which work to naturally reduce sebum protection. That’s great in my book, as salicyclic acid (a popular drying ingredient) can be a little harsh for many skin types.
Next up, I applied a generous amount of the Force Vitale Aqua-Pure Mattifying Cream to my face and neck as well. This cream feels truly luxe!! A beautiful consistency, it felt wonderful to apply. It’s on the richer side for a mattifying cream, but didn’t feel heavy or oppressive at all. It has a light, floral scent that eventually dissipates.
I really liked how this made my facial skin look. It did provide a nice matte look, but not for the entire day. That being said, I did make it through most of the work day without looking too greasy. A definite “recommend”.
One of the things I liked the most about this cream is how nice my makeup went on after application! My foundation definitely went on more smoothly and my skin looked almost “blurred”! I looked like I had a lovely filter on my face! I feel this cream could double as a killer makeup primer!
I love a good brightening essence! I love the act of pressing the essence into my face. It forces you to slow down and enjoy your skincare routine…especially before a bed. Trust me – a very nice way to start the bedtime routine! And yes – forego the cotton pad. This essence works best when you apply it directly to your face with the pads of your fingers.
So, what is a brightening essence anyways? Well, it works to even out skintone, reduce hyperpigmentation and curb the effects of environmental stressors. Cell Shock White Facial Brightening Essence is a cooling formula containing exfoliators housed a gel-in-essence formula. This stuff is really, really nice to apply – it truly feels fresh and wonderful. This product has a beautiful “slip”, meaning it feels slightly oil-like and smooths onto skin very well.
Apply to day and night, before using the Brightening Diamond Serum, which I’ll get to next. I have to say, after using this Brightening Essence in conjuction with the Brightening Diamond Serum for the past couple of weeks, my skin looks much clearer.
Oooh – I was excited to try this out! As I get older, I really want to be mindful about minimizing the look of aging, within reason. Laugh lines are good! Looking dull and sallow though is NOT my jam.
Swiss Line states that the Cell Shock White Brightening Diamond Serum contains “diamond clusters which note only offer a dash of instantaneous brightness but also a cumulative answer to uneven complexions.”
This serum looks gorgeous. Housed in a clear container with a silver top, this product is really two formulas which mix together when pumped into your hand.
The clear serum works to firm the skin and even out pigmentation. The pink formula – a pearlescent rose serum – works on localized dark spots which really offers the most bang for buck for me.
At $324, Cell Shock White Brightening Diamond Serum is an investment. It contains diamonds though. DIAMONDS!! Of all the serums I’ve ever used, this one is a stand out. It applies beautifully, smells absolutely incredible (I’m a sucker for anything rose-scented), and left my skin feeling incredible. Really…wow. The consistency of this formula is truly lovely and left my skin looking bright, dewy and soft. I felt like I’d had some sort of brightening, exfoliating spa treatment after using this.
Ok lovelies – the fun part! I loved these products so much that I partnered with Swiss Line to offer one lucky winner one Cell Shock White Diamond Serum ($324) and one Cell Shock White Facial Brightening Mask ($190)!
