About Dominique Baker & Style Domination

My name is Dominique and I’m a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger. My blog, www.styledomination.com, serves as a creative outlet highlighting my deep interest in fashion and beauty with a focus on humour. After all, you need a sense of humour to spend $2000 on a handbag.

Style Domination is simply a play on my name. My blog highlights how I “Dom-ify” my clothing, so really, it’s more of a focus on “Style Domification” of current trends and classic pieces alike. Promise – I don’t pretend to dominate anything!

How To Do A Luxe Staycation In Style: Le Germain Hotel Ottawa | Style Domination by Dominique Baker

How I got started…

In the early part of 2015, my husband suggested I start a blog featuring all of the fun things I get up to. What started as a medium to share my crazy adventures and love of style soon turned into a go-to destination for beauty advice and reviews, fashion, and lifestyle, and soon expanded to YouTube.

Since launching my blog, I have been featured in Flare Magazine, the Ottawa Citizen, Ottawa Life Magazine, Krowd Magazine, among others. I have also worked with many notable brands such as Ford Canada, Lincoln Motors of Canada, ALEX & ANI, Westin Hotels, Charlotte Tilbury, L’OrΓ©al, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, Givenchy Beauty and Giorgio Armani Beauty. Some of this you’ll see across my blog:

Appearing in national campaigns for RW&Co., Lise Watier Cosmetics, Centrum Vitamins, The Ottawa Hospital, Maybelline, Ecco Shoes and more, I continue to build my expertise in beauty and fashion while fostering great trust with my readers.

In addition to blogging, I now speak to groups in the Ottawa area about how to boost confidence and self-esteem through style, along with giving back to the community through charitable work. In 2017, I was named a Person 2 Know by the United Way Ottawa, and was an Ambassador for The Ottawa Hospital.

Where to find me

Be sure to check out my Instagram page for more fashion and beauty, and I have a host of fashion, beauty and lifestyle-related videos on my YouTube channel.

You can also check out my Press page for even more.Β

I look forward to growing Style Domination further in the future and thank each and every one of you for your continued support.

Hi Alyssa! First and foremost – write about what you love. That will show through your posts and people will be attracted to that. Secondly, tag your posts properly! For example, if you are writing about a Chanel Bag, use the tags “Chanel Bag, Chanel, Designer Bag, Karl Lagerfeld, Designer, Fashion, BOTD (bag of the day)”, etc. Keep your tags general enough that people searching on the net can find them. Thirdly, people love bright, clear pictures that are framed well and interesting. Google “Blogging for beginners” – there are lots of great tips out there, and check out this link: http://stylecaster.com/a-beginners-guide-to-starting-a-blog/. It helped me greatly. Have fun and enjoy blogging! You are going to do great! xoxoxoxo

    Hi Dominque,
I love watching you on you tube about relaxed hair. I’m learning so much. I’m natural now but decided to go back to relaxer in August when I turn 50. I loved my relaxed hair but it would break. I use to relax about every 6 weeks my entire head and nothing in between. You have taught me so much how to care for relaxed hair. I had no idea I was doing it all wrong.
I really appreciate you sharing this important information.
Question , where can I buy the Olaplex conditioner you mentioned, and if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?

Hi Tanya! I’m so glad you are able to learn from me and find my tips helpful! So, as you now know, only relax your new growth. Anything else will cause overprocessing. And don’t forget to deep condition, moisturize and seal regularly!

You can order the Olaplex online from http://www.sephora.com, buy in store at Sephora, and the line is also carried at high quality salons. Lastly, I’m 42 years young.

Stay in touch and let me know how your relaxer goes!

      Dom xo

    Hi Dominique,

I’m a fan of your videos on YouTube regarding relaxed hair, love it. I’m from France and live now in the United States for 10 years. I found amazing how African American women take care so well of their hair and how they can grow it so long… I was wondering if you have a video about how you maintain your edges. I would love to know how you keep your edges so straight specially after working out. Thanks for all the tips you share on YouTube!

You’re welcome! Thanks for your kind comments! When I go to the States, I’m amazed too! Especially down South where the weather is warmer and really beneficial to hair. I do have a “How To Care For Your Edges” video that you can view here, but I really should update it: https://youtu.be/ndQ1MRQwK30. Thanks for reading, luv!
