Last Saturday was a great day. The weather was finally cooperating – no rain, no clouds, just total sunshine. The hubs was running the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend Half-Marathon (with no training, may I add), so we decided to take it easy that day…on a patio.
We headed down to Nordstrom to sit on the Bazille terrace. We had a great lunch, I sipped on sauvignon blanc while he hydrated with water. We discussed our upcoming trip to Spain (so excited) and made strategic plans for the race the following day. Frankly, I was totally relaxed. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day.
I’ve been editing my summer wardrobe which needed a little help. A few years ago, I invested in a ton of boyfriend tees and high-waisted jean shorts. Well, when I say “invested”, I took about $100 and bought as much as I could at fast fashion stores. Sigh. Nothing wore well except for the boyfriend tees which I splurged on (I needed to stretch the budget for those).
While in New York, I invested in a kick-ass pair of Rag & Bone Justine Jean Shorts (really short, really high-waisted and really awesome). I also headed to Marshall’s and bought every single romper I could get my hands on including the one featured in this post.
I know a lot of people have a love hate relationship with rompers and jumpsuits. While super cute and on trend, they are annoying to put on and take off (especially if you have to pee really bad – sorry), and if you have a long torso, they launch you into “Camel Toe Territory”.
This one I scored from Marshall’s is perfect. It’s made of a soft linen, the dusty blue and white stripes are super pretty, and I love the shoulder detail. Best of all, it’s off-the-shoulder, so you can whip it on and off in a pinch. Let’s not forget the pretty frills at the bum and tie-waist detail. Amazingly flattering.
I wore this on Saturday out and about and coupled with the French Crisp ice cream The Darling Hubs treated me to, it kept me smiling all day.
I happy I don’t have a long torso because I really love rompers. This one is so adorable on you. So excited (for you) about your upcoming trip to Spain!

Haha! Thanks, Cheryl! One of my girlfriends is 5’11” and finds them really difficult to fit. I’m happy I can wear them easily too!
I could never pull this off, but I LOVE it on you! Way too cute

Awww Caroline! There is a romper out there for everyone. Promise!
So cute! I love rompers but also have a difficult time putting them on and taking them off. The off the shoulder options is a great way to go – and it looks beautiful!

Thank you! I once bought a romper with two tiny little buttons at the back of the neck. I could never do them up and more urgently, unbutton them. There were a couple of times I desperately had to go to the washroom and struggled for ever with them. NEVER AGAIN.
You look so gorgeous! Those flats look stunning with your skin tone, I so wish I could pull this look off!

Thank you, Emily! I’m sure you could! Those little flats I got at Zara last year. I believe they have a similar version now! xo

That is a cute ass romper! I love anything off the shoulder for spring and summer! Question: you think those rag and bone shorts are curvy girl friendly? Cuz you know, I got some hips, thighs and a booty on me lmao

Hey girl! Honestly, I think they’d look great but you’d probably have to take in the waist! Thanks for your kind words, hunny!
This romper is so precious on you! I love wearing dressing and rompers in the summers because they are so easy.

Ok, I LOVE rompers! I’m short so I don’t have those problems 😉 Besides slipping in and out of them, they are so easy! Definitely my go-to outfits. I have like 10!
