Ahhh Leaves Of Trees!!! WHERE TO BEGIN? You ever find a new beauty brand that is so good and so on point that you aren’t quite sure how you lived without them? Well, that sums up my feelings of this great Toronto-borne brand. And I’m not alone. This little start-up has recently caught the attention of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop and the Globe and Mail.
My sister turned me on to this little unassuming shop on Queen Street West in Toronto. Leaves of Trees is a beautiful little space featuring a ton of great all-natural, organic beauty products made on-site. Everything smelled so wonderful, I was ready to buy everything and get my review on. I actually found a nice selection of Leaves Of Trees (LoT) products at little boutiques here in Ottawa and stocked up too. I have to admit, one stood out in particular. I absolutely fell in love with their heavenly smelling Orange Blossom Argan Lotion. Not too greasy but completely hydrating, it is the perfect hand cream. Leaves of Trees – can you please, please, please make this into a perfume? I’d love you forever! Well, enough jibber jabber. Let’s get this review underway!
Leaves Of Trees Orange Blossom Argan Lotion
I bought this solely because it smelled SO DARN GOOD. Like I said, I really wish it came in a perfume! Light, fresh and floral, the scent is very “Dom”. The lotion itself is wonderful. Perfect for those who don’t like overly greasy lotions, this argan oil melts into skin readily while hydrating efficiently. Made of 100% pure, cold-pressed, organic and ethically sourced argan oil, LoT is committed to kindness by sourcing their argan oil from a women’s cooperative in Morocco, therefore providing them with sustainable employment.
I love the minimalist packaging too. Looks great as you pull it out of your purse! Suitable for face, body and hands, I’ve taken to using it on my neck as a perfume. LoT claims that this product balances sebum production on the face, reduces the appearance of fine lines and speeds up healing and reduces scars. I find it quite moisturizing and the product itself is lovely to apply and comfortable on skin. Miracle in a tube!
Leaves Of Trees Argan Oil
My next favourite product is Leaves Of Trees Argan Oil. I have been using this excellent moisturizer on the ends of my hair for several months now to great results. I’m seeing way less breakage and my ends feel healthy and thick again. Once a week, I add a few drops to my conditioner and apply to my hair as a mask. The results? Shiny, soft, manageable hair.
In addition, I used this light, highly moisturizing oil in Barbados to soothe my crispy, sunburnt skin. This oil is full of great anti-oxidants and is highly concentrated with nutrients as it is made using the cold-press technique. On top of retaining most of its nutrients thanks to how it’s processed, it contains major levels of Vitamin E and phenols (great for speeding up healing and reducing scarring). This oil is perfect for reducing and soothing acne, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and preventing damage from free radicals.
Bonus tip? Add a little to your Beauty Blender and then apply your foundation. Dewy Glow City!!
Leaves of Trees Moroccan Mint Lip Balm
This heavy duty lip balm is a must if you live in a cold climate. It saved my poor lips during our last winter, which sometimes feels like it’s still hanging around.
This lip balm isn’t for the faint-hearted. Thick and a little waxy, the owner of Leaves of Trees was aiming for a product that would be long-lasting and super hydrating. She succeeded. Moroccan Mint Lip Balm is the most popular balm in the LoT line. Featuring wonderful oils, waxes and butters, including argan oil, this balm is made to make your lips happy. After a few months of use, my lips survived the Canadian winter without their typical chapped soreness. And it smells completely amazing.
Leaves of Trees Eucalyptus Mint and Shea Silk Soap
The Leaves of Trees all-natural soaps are easily my favourites. Every single other organic soap I’ve tried just doesn’t cut it. I find most do not wash off cleanly, leaving you coated in soap scum. GROSS. I was hesitant to try these but glad I did.
The Eucalyptus Mint Soap is the mot refreshing way to start the morning! It’s heavenly! The eucalyptus essentials oil smells bright and fresh. The soap is devoid of artificial colours and fragrances and leaves your skin feeling soft and clean, and not stripped.
Leaves of Trees boasts that their Shea Silk Soap is the most luxurious soap ever, featuring real dissolved silk fibres. Made with a blend of lavender, orange blossom, ylang ylang and rosemary, this soap smells divine. Like the Eucalyptus Mint Soap, it rinses cleanly, and leaves your skin soft and supple. I’m definitely reordering.
Leaves of Trees Brightening Face Mask
I started using this brightening face mask as soon as I got home from Barbados. Thanks to the tropical sun, my skin turned a beautiful shade of deep cocoa, but my face was uneven thanks to me wearing my giant sunglasses everyday. On top of that, my nose burned horribly along with my forehead. I wanted something to even out my skin fast and speed up the healing process.
Leaves of Trees Brightening Face Mask uses chemical and enzymatic exfoliation to remove dead cells from your skin, revealing a bright new face. Containing a fruit acid complex (alpha hydroxy acid), lactic and glycolic acids, this formula gets rid of dead skin cells speeding up exfoliation. This awesome mask also contains pineapple powder (cool!!), which further speeds up exfoliation. On top of all this good stuff, this mask contains kaolin clay which absorbs a ton of oil and honey to moisturize skin. Other goodies in the formulation include coconut milk (moisturizing), tamanu and turmeric oils which calm skin, reduce redness and swelling.
This effectively soothed my skin and evened out my crazy tan. My skin looked way brighter after a few weeks of use and felt super soft. Kinda dreading the day it runs out!
Other products I’m dying to try from Leaves of Trees are Lavender Argan Hand And Body Lotion and Boisé by KNM Deodorant (a collaboration with Pink Tartan President, Kimberley Newport-Mimran – supposed to smell amazing). Leaves of Trees seriously impressed me and I loved the luxurious quality the brand has that sets it apart from many others.
Have you had the pleasure of trying Leaves of Trees? What products did you love? Let me know in the comments!
