I am a complete sucker for a nice car. Seriously…they make me swoon. I wouldn’t call myself a “gearhead” per se, but this girl can hold her own when it comes to “car speak”. I also know what I like and I LOVE the 2018 Lincoln Continental. It checks off all of those boxes regarding what this girls *needs* in a car. Luxury? Check. Fast? Check. Reliable, great quality, and head-turning ability? Check, check, check.

Owning this car would be a dream come true for me. It’s a dream to drive…and a dream to be seen driving it. This beauty is a serious head turner too. The model I was fortunate enough to drive has beautiful lines, a buttery-leather interior that was so luxurious and carefully thought out it made me weak in the knees. This car is a lifestyle in itself.

A few weeks ago, I drove the 2018 Lincoln Continental to Toronto for a chic, little getaway. I like driving to Toronto. It’s a straight shot from where I live and normally, I put on some music in my little car and bop along for the five-hour drive. Not this time!! The Continental is FAST with its turbocharged V6 engine. It purrs also despite having 400 horsepower – very much my style. Me being a bit of an anxious driver on the 401, I’m pretty careful about sticking to the speed limit, but at some points, I may have opened her up a little on the open road. WHAT. A. RUSH!!! The Continental leaves you feeling like it can accelerate forever!

It’s supremely comfortable too with its luxe massage seats clad in Bridge of Weir Deepsoft™ Leather. What is Deepsoft™ Leather, you ask? Well, for starters, Bridge of Weir is a fine Scottish supplier of automotive upholstery. This leather goes through a 16-step softening process and the Lincoln Continental is the only car to feature it. I remember thinking how nice the leather was as the massage seats worked their magic on my back. Complete heaven. In addition, the interior featured a fine Espresso Ash wood.
One of my favourite features of the Continental was its Available Head-Up Display. This feature allows drivers to choose the information they would like projected onto the windshield, allowing them to keep their eyes on the road, thus making responding to the road ahead easier. For instance, I had the time, temperature, speed, speed limit, gas mileage and adaptive cruise control displayed. I found this so helpful and frankly comforting. Having the lane-keeping information displayed in particular was great especially while giant tractor trailers are barreling past you at high speeds.
Another favourite feature of this beauty is its great gas mileage for its size (14.0/9.4L per 100 KM2). This luxury car also only requires regular gas as opposed to premium, which left me with more “fun money” for Toronto.

The Continental features tons of other great bells and whistles such as Adaptive Headlights which swivel from side to side in unison with the steering, therefore illuminating wider swaths of road at night. The Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-And-Go10 combines camera and radar technology allowing the Continental to sense and adjust to the pace of cars closeby. It also allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop and restart when traffic begins to move.
Adaptive Suspension offers you whatever type of drive you’re in the mood for, be it Comfort, Normal or Sport. Big music fan like I am? Well, Active Noise Control reduces unwanted noise within the car which allowed me to truly enjoy my carefully curated Toronto playlist. Did I mention that the Continental boasts a Revel Ultima System with 19 speakers??? As a lover of funk and soul, blasting James Brown in that car was a religious experience.
Back to Toronto though, let me tell you about that amazing road trip courtesy of Lincoln Motor Company…

Ryan and I drove the Continental down to The Six where we spent the weekend in a beyond-luxe suite at The Adelaide Hotel. The suite was so fabulous and huge, I’m pretty sure it was bigger than our first apartment. The hotel staff set out a platter of macarons and chocolates for us to enjoy upon our arrival. I felt like a celebrity! On top of that, they provided a platter of doggie treats and toys for Reese too. That little guy has it pretty good!

Once we settled in and rested up a bit, we grabbed my sister Erika and went to the Jays vs. Orioles game at Rogers Centre. We had an absolute BLAST! The sun was shining, Ryan treated me to an obnoxious foam finger, the Jays won…it was a perfect afternoon.

We then went to my sister’s neighbourhood and took in the Bloor West Village Street Fair. Great food and live music was then followed by drinks on my Erika’s rooftop patio. Dinner was the highlight of the weekend though. The three of us headed to The Chase, which is possibly the most beautiful, Instagrammable restaurant ever. It was the best meal and most fabulous cocktails I have had since our trip last year to Barcelona.
I cannot thank The Lincoln Motor Company of Canada enough for this much-needed getaway. Driving the beautiful Continental was a treat. To have people stop on the street and peer into when it was parked made me smile from ear to ear. What made me smile even bigger? A fellow stylish blogger spotting me on Elgin Street and yelling: “WHOA! Nice wheels, Dom!” as I drove away from an event. AMAZING. Thank you, Lincoln!
