A Few Simple Self-Care Practices To Boost The Mind, Body And Soul: Resveralife

I’ll admit…I’m a bit of a stress case. Those who know me know that while I’m easy-going, I can stress out with the best of them. I have zero poker face too so my loved ones can tell easily when a stress attack is about to strike.

Over the years, I’ve learned some pretty great coping mechanisms to ensure that my anxiety levels stay low. There is no reason for something like traffic to bring on a heart attack, amirite? Just knowing that I have my health, a good job, people who love me and a fur baby makes life great.

Lately, I’ve been indulging in things that make all five of my senses really happy! It’s part of my self-care routine to stay balanced and healthy. This summer, I’ve gone to countless concerts with Chaka Khan being a total highlight. Fine dining is dear to my heart and I’ve been dabbling in more vegan cooking thanks to the influence of my turbo vegan sister, Erika. When I have a little spare time, I visit the National Art Gallery and take in the latest exhibits. I find this completely relaxing. One of my favourite past-times is collecting perfumes, and my little collection seems to have grown exponentially this summer making me very happy. Lastly, cuddling both Ryan and Reese makes my heart swell.

Recently, I’ve been using a few products from Resveralife that fit really well into my lifestyle. The brand’s focus on holistic healthcare and healthy living inspired by the five senses really resonated with me. What makes Resveralife particularly special is “resveratrol”, a compound found in red grapes known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. As a beauty blogger and lover of fitness, I learned quickly that beauty starts from within and healthy living needs to be a priority, so I was excited to try some of Resveralife’s popular products and enhance my self-care routine.

Resveralife Hidden Hibiscus Tea and Lilac Blossom Tea Pot

One of my personal favourites from Resveralife is the delicious Hidden Hibiscus Tea. I’m a tea fanatic (you can take the girl out of Britain but…) and drink several cups of Earl Grey daily. I’ve been slowly replacing my highly caffeinated Earl Grey with the naturally sweet Hidden Hibiscus Tea.

It’s fresh and fragrant due to its all-organic blend of hibiscus, cinnamon, orange peel and lemon myrtle. Soothing and relaxing, it doesn’t contain any caffeine like my usual tea, therefore allowing me to relax and calm down for bed time.

This beauty blogger also loves the fact that it has a ton of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to boost the look of healthy skin.

This summer has been a scorcher, so I’ll brew a pitcher full of iced Hidden Hisbiscus Tea. I add a little honey to boost the sweetness and throw in some sliced lemon, blueberries and strawberries. It’s a cool, refreshing drink that I enjoy regularly while sitting out in our backyard. Heaven!

The Lilac Blossom Tea Pot is a pleasure to use! Not only is it beautiful and well-made, its heavy cast iron maintains a nice high temperature keeping your tea warm for an extended period of time. It comes complete with a little mesh basket to steep your favourite loose teas to perfection. A guilty pleasure of mine is steeping a pot full of delicious peach white tea and enjoying it while watching several episodes of Law & Order in a row. It’s the simple things, right?

Resveralife Zen Aromatherapy Diffuser

Picture it: you’ve had a hellish day. Your feet hurt, your head hurts and all you’re thinking about is relaxing in a warm bath which will hopefully ease the troubles away. Well, that was me last Monday. Between the deadlines, terrible traffic and getting home to find that Reese massacred a favourite pair of shoes, I needed a break.

After finishing dinner, I drew myself a bath, lit some candles and turned on my Zen Aromatherapy Diffuser. I just wanted to shut my eyes and pretend that I didn’t see my favourite pair of sparkly L’Intervalle shoes in my puppy’s toothy clutches.

Soon enough, the bathroom smelled lightly of my Goddess essential oil that I added to my colourful diffuser, which sat in the corner changing colours, hypnotizing me into a state of bliss.

Resveralife’s Zen Aromatherapy Diffuser releases a cool mist while simultaneously delivering LED light therapy in shades of red, orange, green, blue, purple and pink. Kinda felt like I had a silent disco happening while sitting in my soaker tub (side note: Chaka Khan played quietly in the background). The Zen Aromatherapy Diffuser doesn’t just look pretty though. It purifies the air by releasing water vapour into the atmosphere. It also produces negative ions which remove dust particles from the air. This is a big one for me as my allergies have been in overdrive lately.

Using little energy, this diffuser is quiet and shuts off once it runs out of water, therefore, making it safe to use indoors. Bump up the health benefits too by adding two to three drops of your favourite essential oils to the diffuser’s water. This will create an even more relaxing environment while letting you breathe in the health benefits of essentials oils. My favourite essential oil? Lavender, which helps you de-stress and become more calm and relaxed.

So, this anti-yoga girl has become a pro-yoga girl. I “blame” my attendance at the fabulous White Tour in July. I truly love weights and running and love working up a sweat during my workouts. For a long time, I equated “sweating” with a “truly good workout”. That was shortsighted though. After that beautiful, sunset yoga session at the White Tour, I felt relaxed, centered and calm. Additionally, I was sore the next day from holding all of the poses! I vowed then and there to sign up for some yoga classes.

I really needed a good yoga mat though. My poor ages-old yoga mat lay in a corner of the garage, beat-up and dirty from my outdoor boot camp days. I promptly chucked it and unwrapped the brand, spanking new one I received from Resveralife.

With its bright mandalas in shades of blue, pink and purple, this yoga mat is an eye-catcher. It’s also nice and thick, saving your knees and elbows while in Child’s Pose and Sphinx Pose alike. The microfibre overlay also keeps you from slipping during hot yoga and this mat is machine-washable too. Perfect for those who want to use the mat outdoors.

The Resveralife Yoga Bag is awesome too! Instead of grappling with my yoga mat after classes and throwing it into my trunk, I roll it up and slide it into this great tote. It has a handy zippered pocket for my wallet, keys and phone too and I love that I can throw it over my shoulder.

Resveralife Acupuncture Mat

Look, I’m super afraid of needles. So much so, that the first time I was tested for allergies, I passed right out. Stone cold. This is exactly why I have yet to try acupuncture. The thought of lying on a table while you are willingly turned into a human pincushion makes no sense to me. Yes, I know. There are a ton of health benefits, but NOPE. I just can’t do it.

Resveralife’s Acupuncture Mat is for those just like me…who would love to try acupuncture if it weren’t for the horrifying needles. I’ll admit…as I unrolled the mat, I was full on skeptical. It also looked a little painful. I took to the Resveralife website to see how it worked. Apparently, this “Acupressure mat uses Chinese and Indian techniques of acupressure massage and yoga to stimulate the body at precise points, providing you with immediate relief from soreness caused by sciatica, fatigue and insomnia”.

My lower back tends to hurt, especially if I don’t stretch after a long run, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I lasted about 15 minutes. Now, the pain of lying on the sharp, plastic points eventually became bearable and I did find that my back pain was lessened. I tried it out for three days straight and dare I say it works! It really loosened up my tight muscles after hard workouts with my personal trainer and definitely eased muscle soreness.

I can now say I’ve tried acupuncture! Hey – I’ll take this any day over some scary, long needles being inserted into my spine. #dramatic

These Resveralife products have definitely upped my self-care routine leading to a better “Dom”. They are fun to use and the Hidden Hibiscus Tea is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the Acupuncture Mat that really helped with my lower back pain and muscle soreness. It has definitely become part of my daily stress-relief routine.

Have you tried Resveralife? What are your favourite products? I’m dying to try the skincare! Resveralife also offers a great blog full of super helpful lifestyle tips. You can check it out here. Enjoy!

Struggling with anxiety sucks. I do yoga but have to limit myself to certain poses because I have had a knee replacement. It does help with the anxiety though.

I’ve been working on finding little ways to replenish myself since I can’t seem to find time for any big things that give my soul energy. I have started making myself tea every day and listening to a few of my songs (rather than my kids) every day. Baby steps but they are already helping me feel more like me
