When I started my blog in January 2015, it was simply an outlet for me to express my thoughts and opinions on all things fashion and beauty. It was also a great way to connect with my husband who was on a work assignment in the South Pacific, and with my family living in Europe.
Well, let’s just say the blog has grown a little. Right now, I am staring at about 50 beauty products I need to review, some outfits I am going to profile to highlight Canadian fashion, I need to edit about 500 pictures for the blog (no – seriously), and I have a bunch of events to attend in my city and Toronto. I wish there were more hours in the day! I have been thinking a lot about how to manage my blog. I have sought out a web developer and I am currently in the midst of changing the look of Style Domination, but I’d also like to learn how to take my blog to the next level. Maybe one day, I can monetize this website and become my own boss! So, besides re-reading #GIRLBOSS on a regular basis for motivation, I’m going to seek out some mentors and networking events to further my learning and grow.
One event I am really excited about is ConnectOtt. Taking place this March 31st at Ottawa’s beautiful Château Laurier, it is an event organized by local young professionals offering attendees an opportunity to network with industry leaders across multiple industries in order to assist them with transitioning to the next phase of their careers. This is also an excellent opportunity for mentorship.
ConnectOtt, a dinner and networking event, creates strategic opportunities to meet inspiring Ottawans. Bridging the gap between emerging professionals looking to further their careers and grow their networks, ConnectOtt allows young professionals to “pick the brains” of well-established community and industry leaders.
Participants of this event will be matched with industry leaders of their choice. Over 60 different leaders in 13 different industries including law, finance, marketing, arts, technology, etc. Attendees will have the chance to mingle with leaders from Le Cordon Bleu, CHEO, Ottawa Bluesfest, Shopify and more. Each course will be spent with two leaders and six professionals which allows for great face-to-ace time, along with mentorship and networking opportunities in an intimate setting. Perfect! In addition, ConnectOtt will offer an exclusive pre-event networking hour starting at 5:30pm.
ConnectOtt will be taking place at the Château Laurier on Thursday, March 31st from 6:30pm – 9:00pm, including the exclusive cocktail reception starting at 5:30pm.
