Come Join Us At The Second Annual Closet Collective Event! November 20th, 5:30pm

I’m going to be frank here. I like to shop. When I say I like to shop, I mean I LOVE to shop. I’m the person waiting outside of the mall on Boxing Day, eagerly awaiting the doors to open at 9:00am.  I’m the girl who can carry 30 shopping bags in each hand  – no problem.  I also think nothing of driving to another city to get that perfect item I can’t find here.  It’s in my DNA. If you cut me, I’d bleed Nordstrom Debut Reward Points.

When I got the notice for the 2nd Annual Closet Collective Event, I jumped up from my desk, grabbed my pink highlighter and circled November 20th on my calendar about six times.  No way was I missing this again.

Now, what exactly is the Closet Collective, do you ask?  Well…let me explain this very carefully.

The 2nd Annual Closet Collective Event is a shopping night put together by Carolyn Lacasse, the lovely and stylish force behind the awesome J’Adore This blog. Along with several stylish Ottawa women, Carolyn has partnered with the Ottawa School of Art (OSA) to bring us this unbelievable fundraising experience.

For $30 a ticket, guests are given an empty bag and a glass of “shopping juice” (champagne). You can fill this bag to the brim with whatever you choose from this smorgasbord of donated, delicious clothing, shoes and accessories (last year’s offerings were really good – think YSL shoes, etc.). Additional bags are $10.  My heart is going bananas as I type this.

Best of all, all funds raised will benefit the OSA and their programming which helps 3000 students annually as well as their outreach program which offers art classes to at-risk children and youth throughout the City of Ottawa free of cost. Surplus clothing from the sale will be donated to Dress for Success and the St. Joe’s Women’s Centre.

Major sponsors of this great event include H&M and the St. Laurent Centre, and some pieces from great brands such as Pink Tartan, Theory, Diane Von Furstenburg, Opening Ceremony and Michael Kors have recently been donated to the event.

So, look through that closet of yours and feel free to donate some goodies to this great cause! Donations are currently being accepted at the OSA located at 35 George Street in the ByWard Market during regular business hours. Lend a helping hand too by liking the Closet Collective Facebook page and bringing along all of your friends!

Lastly, let’s all promote this great cause through our social media channels. Here are some ideas for sharing online:

  1. Shopping for a good cause? Don’t mind if I do! #closetcollective @StJoesWC @StLaurentCentre @DFSOttawa @ArtOttawa http://ow.ly/UtkNm
  2. #closetcollective in #Ottawa: Shop while supporting great causes. @StJoesWC @StLaurentCentre @DFSOttawa @ArtOttawa http://ow.ly/UtkNm
  3. Not your average clothing swap! Come to the #closetcollective. @StJoesWC @StLaurentCentre @DFSOttawa @ArtOttawa http://ow.ly/UtkNm

To sweeten the pot even further, attendees will have the chance to win one of two gift cards from St. Laurent Centre when you mention all three charities plus the event hashtag on social media. St. Laurent Centre will also be drawing two winners from our first 100 tickets to win $100 from the mall..

Be sure to buy your ticket early – this event is guaranteed to sell out. Can’t wait to see you there! If you see a wild-eyed girl in a shopping frenzy, come over and introduce yourself!  LOL!
