Little Italy is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in our city. Some of my favourite restaurants are located here on Preston Street, such as the infamous Giovanni’s and La Roma. This little area of town is a vibrant, fun area, flanked between beautiful Dow’s Lake and Lebreton Flats…which just happens to be where our biggest music festival, RBC Bluesfest, is taking place.
Last year, I accepted a job in this neighbourhood and often take walks down Preston Street to grab a coffee at Starbucks in the morning. During one of these walks, I noticed a cute, little boutique nestled between the big Russell Restaurant Supplier and The Moonroom (great tapas and cocktails, btw). This boutique just so happens to be one of the greatest places in Ottawa to find luxe, in-demand designs. Let me introduce you to Vincent.
Owned by stylish sisters Angie and Amanda Cambareri, this store features some heavyweight designers such as For Love and Lemons, Aigle, Tiger of Sweden, J Brand and Lanapo Cinque Terre Sandals. Side note: I was lucky enough to score a pair of Lanapo sandals in Italy last year. They are the BEST sandals on Earth.
I had the pleasure of working with Angie at Holt Renfrew years ago. Angie is a little dynamo – a gifted makeup artist brimming with style and creative energy. Her and her sister Amanda partnered in 2013 to realize their dream of opening their own clothing boutique in Little Italy, an area close to their hearts. This doesn’t surprise me at all. Both have a lot of high-end retail experience under their belts, are overflowing with cool personal style and have their fingers on the fashion pulse of the city. Both sisters worked at Holt Renfrew, where their appreciation for high-quality pieces by fine designers grew. Amanda also worked at the Winners head office in Toronto and as a visual merchandiser at Canadian favourite Aritzia, while Angie worked with heavy hitters in the beauty industry such as Bobbi Brown, Lip Fusion and Clean Perfume.
They decided to name the store Vincent, after their uncle who passed away as a young boy. Vincent, a gifted artist, “embodied a timeless energy, creativity and innate talent”, characteristics the sisters wanted to project through their store.
It’s abundantly clear that Amanda and Angie share a love of style and fashion through their own unique and incredibly stylish aesthetics. Amanda’s passion is photography – something that is evident through their blog and Instagram account, and Angie’s is makeup – something I can attest to as I have seen her talent firsthand.
Now, many may shudder at the thought of going into business with a sibling, but the two clearly make it work well. As business partners, they have managed to use each other’s strengths to ensure the store’s success. Both ladies are immensely creative, and this is evident through the décor of the boutique, its selection of beautiful, covetable brands and attentive service.
Katie had an extremely successful visit to the store. Dazzled by the offerings, Katie couldn’t help buying a lovely shirt and I will be heading to the boutique to pick up my second pair of Lanapo sandals (I’m addicted). Amanda and Angie also managed to snag some Sincerely Jules t-shirts for their store! I will be checking these out too as Sincerely Jules is one of my favourite bloggers. In addition to clothing, Vincent offers a nice selection of jewelry, handbags, candles and various other accessories.
Now, on to their festival fashion picks, which I love! I guess I’m really leaning towards feminine styles this year!
