I am a proud member of Victoire‘s cult following here in Ottawa. Known for their adorable, one-of-a-kind dresses, this boutique is special and completely embodies all of the advantages of “buying local”. Named one of Elle Canada’s top six independent boutiques to check out, Victoire is the pick for today’s festival fashion store feature collaboration between myself and Katie of YOW City Style.
Victoire has two locations here in Ottawa: one on Wellington Street West, and the other on Dalhousie street. For today’s feature, we visited their Wellington Street West location.
Upon entering the store, you know immediately that owners Régine Paquette and Katie Frappier are a creative force. Regine’s appreciation for vintage clothing, 70s rock bands and Lisa Frank (LOVE) is evident in the store’s look and inventory. From the adorable patches, amazing costume jewelry with a 70s flare and wares from local artisans such as framed art and pottery, you can tell this is Régine’s store.

Couple Régine’s quirky aesthetic with co-owner Katie’s love of beautiful environments, women’s issues and supporting the local community and its businesses – you have a boutique that is both beautiful and offers a wide range of items for everyone. In addition, the staff at both locations are lovely! Friendly and warm, staff members make you feel like you’ve known them for years…

I have many pieces from Victoire – my favourites being the ladylike sundresses by Canadian designers that they are known for. I think the thing I like most about Victoire is that the clothing is cut and fits so beautifully! All of the dresses I own from this store look like they were made for me. Can you ask for anything more? Check out another favourite piece of mine from Victoire – my cherished Bad Kitty t-shirt:
Here is a sampling of beautiful dresses Victoire currently stocks:

Victoire also has a healthy selection of jewelry. I head to the shop when I want cute little midi rings and found a vintage gold plated mood ring on my last shopping excursion (below). The pieces that Régine and Katie procure are beautiful and adorable, and range from $15 to $250. Some of the jewelry brands at the store include Sarah Mulder, Entropy, Anita K, Steel Magnolias, Bloomin’ Brilliant and Rosehound Apparel.

Now, while Victoire stocks all of the music festival staples one would expect such as fringe bags, cute shorts and colourful sunglasses, it would be the first place I’d visit if I wanted to look “lady-like” and well put together at a music festival. What a breath of fresh air it would be to shun the gladiators and denim cutoffs for an adorable, fresh-looking, a-line halter dress like that modelled by Shaya below?

Well, on to the clothes! Here we have Ashley modelling her festival fashion picks:

On Ashley:
- “Alvin” snake print shorts, Valérie Dumaine
- “Cantaloup” top, Les Enfants Sauvages
- “Ava” fringe bag, Deborah Adams
- “Lunar Phases” necklace, Entropy
- “Pink” sunglasses, AJ Morgan
And there you have it, my lovelies! Next time you are in the mood for a well-made, unique find, head on over to the Victoire boutiques located at 1282B Wellington Street West or 209 Dalhousie Street. Our fellow Torontonians will be delighted to know that Régine and Katie opened a Victoire boutique at 129A Ossington Avenue too!

xo,
I can’t tell you how jealous I am of people who live in cities with such fabulous fashion sense. 😉 Oh, well. At least I can enjoy vicariously …
And P.S. That anchor-emblazoned sundress? Heaven. 🙂

Awww! Don’t be jealous! Remember – it’s just clothing and everyone has their own little style. And yes – that little anchor dress is amazing. It fits beautifully!!! It comes in shorts and a top too.
I truly love it. I could live in dresses always… And by the way… This is such a great series!! 🙂
