On Friday, I met up with my sweet friend Emilie…a photographic wizard with a keen eye for styling. I’m dedicating this post to her, as she has proven to be not only a total sweetheart, but the lady to turn to in order to get things done…a true Girl Friday.

I met Emilie at the beginning of this year. What started out as a blogger collaboration has turned into a friendship that has taught me so much about photography and has honed my “eagle eye”. In addition, Emilie’s warm and fun nature has kept me in stitches, and I feel that I have met my “kindred Instagram spirit”.
Emilie – a recent university graduate with a specialization in the visual arts has forced me to stop, breathe and then “click” – meaning, instead of hurrying through a photoshoot to get as many usable shots as possible (in turn, getting me back home as soon as possible to watch more Downton Abbey), has taught me to take the time to learn my angles, find my best side (everybody has one – Mariah was not kidding), and taught me ways to make even the craziest outfit look great.
Speaking of crazy outfits, I present to you the pale pink, deep v-neck, backless, flare dress…something that caused me to gasp when I took it out of its box. You see, I would never, ever wear something like this. My Double D girls just won’t allow it. Normally, I leave this beautiful, daring look to my A-cup ladies who can pull this off without miles of double-stick tape, but I was determined. This dress was too pretty to not give it a chance.
Well, I was right. With Emilie’s keen eye, this dress went from “Alexa Chung Only” to “Dominique’s Best Friend”.
Do backless, deep v-neck dresses strike fear in your hearts? They shouldn’t! Nordstrom has a suite of beautiful and hardworking stick-on bras (heavy duty, well-made ones…don’t worry) that actually work. Promise!
