Fashion Art Toronto Feature: Ryan Alexander, Haute Couture Designer

I remember back in September 2015, stepping into the Stylist Box Stylist Suite that had taken over a sparkling $17-million penthouse at the Trump Tower. The largest living room within in the penthouse had been transformed into a dreamy salon full of evening gowns fit for a princess.  Lining the walls were rolling racks full of exquisite gowns and frilly frocks from the likes of Hillary MacMillan, Christopher Paunil and Narces.

As I walked the perimeter of the room taking in each stunning dress, I thought to myself: “I am going to remember this for the rest of my life.”  I couldn’t have been happier.

One of the designers featured by the Stylist Box was Ryan Alexander and his elegant, feminine designs.

Ahhhh Ryan – more than just an extremely handsome face. Ryan is an award-winning haute couture designer, and it’s easy to see why. His sophisticated designs complement the female form beautifully, with careful tailoring, flattering cuts and beautiful fabrics. You can tell that Ryan loves making women feel beautiful through his work.

Ryan accepting his award – congratulations!

Ryan will be showcasing his Fatalism collection at Fashion Art Toronto (FAT) this Saturday night, April 16th during the Haute Culture event. Haute Culture will explore clothing that symbolizes social stature. Expect to see designs inspired by celebrity, high society, opulence and aristocracy. Finally…I will have somewhere to where my Dolce & Gabbana-inspired crown.

Fatalism sets the scene with cocktail dresses and evening gowns embodying luxury, inspired by Hollywood’s Film Noir period. Heavily influenced by the “Femme Fatale”, the collection features shades of dark purple and rich greys, highlighting fierce independence, seduction and mystery.

I am highly excited to finally meet Ryan in person, and see more of his beautiful designs. FAT is such a great event celebrating contemporary art and design with more than 50 shows over five days. Attendees will be dazzled by runway shows, live performances, fashion films, photography exhibits and art installations. Featuring 200 Canadian and international fashion designers and artists, FAT is enjoyed by over 5,000 guests over the course of its duration.  Highly impressive!
