#TRENDING: My Favourite Fall Nail Colours (Hint – The Darker, The Better)

After a summer of non-stop corals, fuchsias, pale pinks and summery blues, I am ready for my beloved dark nail polishes. Since Chanel debuted their fabulous (and my most favourite) Vamp colour back in 1994, dark, moody nails have become commonplace in any fashionista’s nail polish arsenal.

This fall, I’m seeing a bunch of great dark shades ranging from amazing dark green, to deep dusty teals. There’s just something so stylish about ten perfect short, dark nails. I’m such a sucker for this look! I’m also thrilled to see the return of bordeaux shades for fall – a really nice twist to classic red that’s so sexy. LOVE.

Best of all, no matter what anyone tells you, these dark rich shades flatter every single skin tone. I have yet to see a dark red, deep forest green or dark, regal blue look anything less that perfect on anyone. If your hesitant about these bold shades, opt for a pretty nude colour and add a dark stripe to your nails – a really fresh and modern look, or try out the super hot negative space half-moon manicure!

If you are like me and will have dark colours on repeat this fall, try short nails with a rounded square shape, therefore extending the length of your fingers creating a more graceful effect. Really long, dark nails look dated – give them a break for now.

I was invited for a manicure at The Ten Spot Beauty Bar in Westboro – lucky me! What a treat to be greeted with a friendly smile and delicious cup of warm David’s Tea. Definitely felt very pampered during my visit. From facials to waxing to manicures and pedicures, The Ten Spot Beauty Bar has something for everyone, including a wide array of great products such as their house brand of creams and nail polishes get nailed, Dermalogica, Essie, and much more.

Vanessa, nail tech extraordinaire, gave me a perfect manicure. She gave me short, slightly rounded square nails that are perfect for fall. I really felt like I was in good hands with Vanessa. She did expert cuticle work with a gentle touch, painted my nails with the skill of a surgeon and was one of those rare estheticians who could chat AND complete an on-point manicure on time! Best of all, we talked as if we were old friends! A very kind soul!

Love, Love, LOVE my Ten Spot Gel Manicure! Thank you, Vanessa!

The Ten Spot Beauty Bar has so many dark awesome shades to choose from, I have to admit I was a little stumped at first as I stared at the endless array of colours. I narrowed it down to an awesome navy blue that looked like a starry sky and a dark, rich hunter green (which I’m so into right now as shown below).

I ended up choosing OPI’s Gel Color Polish in Bella’s Vampire, a dark black cherry.  Super happy with my choice – and the incredible service at The Ten Spot Beauty Bar! Check them out when you can and treat yourself to a service at their cute, brightly decorated Westboro location!

What nail colours are on your radar this season? Any of you try any of the deep beautiful coppers I’m seeing all over the place right now? Do share in the comments!

I want to do my nails now! My favorite fall color is Lincoln Park After Dark – OPI.

I also love my dark colour but I also love bright too! I just find that neons look horrible on my skin, but otherwise I love summer AND winter nails. Thanks for this post! That manicure bar looks AMAZING!

Thanks Hatsy! Yep – neon colours are super hard to pull off, although China Glaze’s Shocking Pink and Purple Panic are super pretty on all skin tones! Thanks for reading! xo

LMAO the sloth nails! Oh you…
There’s a Ten Spot down the street from me – I’ve never been but it looks like a nice trendy place.
Bella’s Vampire is a fantastic shade! I might have to bust out the deep dark shades soon…

    • November 12, 2015 / 9:54 am

Haha! Poor Kylie. I felt sort of bad about that one. Yep – I always visit The Ten Spot on Queen Street West each time I visit Toronto, or Her Majesty’s Pleasure on King Street…

Thank you, Dana! I have to admit, in the dead of winter, I will perk myself up my applying some awesome electric pink or coral and pretend I’m on a beach – lol! Thanks for reading!
