I’m not too adventurous with my makeup with a drawer full of nude lipsticks and shadows to prove it…but I want to be! Looking at my fave YouTubers like Jackie Aina, Tanya Burr and makeup Instagrammers like @theblondemann and @alissa.ashley makes me want to run to Sephora and purchase the brightest of the makeup. I normally chicken out though and stay in my safe little makeup lane. Sigh.
That’s where Dr. Hauschka steps in. Their latest makeup offerings are for people like you and I who want to experiment with bright colours with our own toned down spin on it.
Sidenote: if you have yet to try Dr. Hauschka’s Rose Day Cream, do it now. It is absolutely perfect for combatting dry skin during the winter months. You can read more about my review on it here.
Dr. Hauschka was kind enough to send a collection of their latest offerings which I happily tested out during a recent event. The Deep Infinity Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette 02 is beautiful – just the right amount of poppy colour to make a sexy smoky eye look.
Here are my thoughts on this pretty collection perfect for Holiday parties:
The Deep Infinity Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette 02 is a great set of colours to create a sultry blue-toned smoky eye.
This pretty palette includes four colours that complement each other nicely with different finishes (sparkle, shimmer and matte). These differences in finish offer up a smoky eye with a really lovely depth and interest.
In true Dr. Hauschka form, the eyeshadows are created with mineral pigments, medicinal plant extracts and silk to baby your delicate eye area.
The deep blue-black colour is stunning with the rest of the colours or on its own, and don’t be afraid of the mint colour – it’s particularly flattering!
Ok – be warned. This mascara is BRIGHT. I wasn’t quite sure how to apply it without making my eyelashes look frosted. Personally, I would apply this turquoise mascara only to the tips of your eyelashes for a flash of interest when you blink your eyes.
Made with candelilla wax, this mascara coats each lash well and has great lasting power. Again, I would probably avoid using this on the entire lash…just on the tips complements the Deep Infinity Eyeshadow Palette 02 beautifully.
It definitely inspired a few oooohs and aaaahs when I debuted it, but also a “What is on your eyelashes?” in a quizzical tone from The Husband.
The Deep Infinity Limited Edition Lip Crayon 01 was a definite stand out…with me using it on a daily basis. It is the PERFECT nude colour!! Creamy and moisturizing, it applies beautifully leaving just the right amount of colour and healthy sheen. This is a stellar product!!
I also love the chubby lip pencil format which makes it easy to apply. A little goes a long way too. And for those of you with dry, chapped lips? This product is a lifesaver this time of year!
The Dr. Hauschka Lip Gloss Radiance, like the Lip Crayon, is a stellar hydrator. I haven’t put it down since I received it. Why? Because not only is its pink iridescence so pretty, it soothes chapped lips in a snap. Formulated with natural oils and waxes, it provides a natural-looking shine and babies the sensitive skin of your lips.
It has a really pleasant herbal fragrance too. Not heavy or gooey, this Lip Gloss makes the list for my very own 2018 Beauty Awards. FYI – this combined with the Lip Crayon and Deep Infinity Eyeshadow Palette 02 makes for a beautiful smoky eye/nude lip look.
The Dr. Hauschka Illuminating Fluid 01 is a shimmering fluid used to illuminate skin for a healthy, glowing effect. It is supposed to adapt to all skin tones, but I found it a little too light for my dark skin, even when mixed with foundation.
That being said, I do apply to my brow bone for a nice, pearlescent effect. The Illuminating Fluid is made with witch hazel (great for acne-prone skin), apricot kernel oil and jojoba oil which makes it an effective moisturizer.
A girlfriend of mine tested out this formulation and it was beautifu l on her alabaster skin, giving her a pearl-like glow. Those with dark skin tones may have to play around with the proportions of Illuminating Fluid to foundation to strike that perfect tone.
Overall, this collection of the latest Dr. Hauschka offerings is beautiful! All Dr. Hauschka products are natural, organic cosmetics and free from synthetic fragrances, dyes, preservatives, mineral oils, silicones and PEG. They are all dermatologically tested for sensitive skin and never tested on animals. In addition, wherever possible, all raw materials are derived from controlled organic or biodynamic cultivation and are recovered under fair conditions. *slow clapping* Way to go, Dr. Hauschka!
Those of you here in Ottawa will be able to find the products at Terra 20 or online at www.well.ca.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
