Dr. Hauschka has been on my radar for a long time now with his Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Bath Essence being a favourite of mine for years (the brand recently changed the name from Lemon Bath). It’s one of the best bath oils I have ever used, leaving my skin soft and supple, and don’t get me started on the wonderful, refreshing scent…but more on that in a later blog post. PROMISE.
I have been using the Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream as part of my nighttime routine for the past couple of weeks now. I have also been using the Lip Care Stick to soothe my chapped lips.
With spring right around the corner, I have been babying my skin to get it ready for the warm weather. I’ve been boosting my exfoliation routine gently (so as to not irritate my skin) to get rid of flakiness, and drinking more water to boost hydration from within. The Rose Day Cream is on the thicker side, but totally suitable for day, but I chose to use it mainly at nighttime to up my moisturization levels and increase cell turnover while I sleep. This method is paying off…and you’ll see why shortly.
But First, About The Brand – Dr. Hauschka
Dr. Rudolf Hauschka started his business in 1935 thanks to high demand for his natural skin creams. He soon opened outlets in London and Vienna to meet this demand. Dr. Hauschka and his wife were imprisoned by Nazis during the Second World War and his business was moved many times before re-establishing itself in Bad Boll/Eckwälden in 1950 – where it still remains today.
Dr. Hauschka always wanted to release a range of great skincare. In the early 60s, he met Elisabeth Sigmund, a Swedish esthetician who helped him realize the brand as we know it today.
Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream
Made with rose wax, shea butter, rose petals and rose hips, this thick, rich and emollient cream is heaven. It completely soothes irritated skin leaving it dewy and glowy. Perfect for dry and sensitive skin, it instantly hydrates and plumps, reduces redness and shrinks enlarged capillaries.
This cream smells absolutely heavenly too. I cannot get enough. A little goes a long way too which is always great. I noticed that this cream serves as a great base for foundation. I have been using my favourite foundation, Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation which is on the thicker, drier side. When I use the Rose Day Cream during the day in conjunction with that foundation, it makes my skin look radiant and dewy as opposed to matte.
Dr. Hauschka Lip Care Stick
I LOVE THIS LIP BALM!! It’s smooth, rich and instantly made my sore, dry lips feel way better. After a couple of days’ use, my lips were back to normal…dryness was totally eliminated.
This lip balm is silky smooth and a total pleasure to apply. The Lip Care Stick contains shea butter, beeswax, almond oil, and anthyllis – all of which serve to seal in moisture and protect.
It has a light, pleasant herbal scent too, thanks to its natural composition.
Both of the Rose Day Cream and Lip Care Stick are truly natural and organic, free from synthetic fragrances and dyes, and do not contain mineral oils and silicone. In addition, no Dr. Hauschka products are tested on animals.
