Rideau Centre has always been my favourite mall in Ottawa. Located smack dab in the middle of the downtown core, it has always boasted the best stores, attracting the fashionable and those looking to be fashionable.
Over the past year though, it has gone from good to stellar. With the opening of Nordstrom, Tiffany & Co., Stuart Weitzman and a newly expanded Harry Rosen, it now has an upscale polish. Many stores have been rearranged for better traffic flow, and some really popular heavy hitters like Express, LUSH Cosmetics, Bose and Bath & Body Works have taken up residence in the popular mall.
To add to Rideau Centre’s renovation, the much-anticipated, brand new wing opened tonight and it was worth the wait. Featuring 230,000 sq.ft of extra space, four levels, and showcasing some fantastic stores such as Simons, Anthropologie, H&M, Alex and Ani, Rudsak and Massimo Dutti (one of my favourites), Rideau Centre officially takes its crown as King of the Ottawa Malls.
I met a bunch of my blogger friends at the amazing grand opening party last night and had a blast! We shopped ’til we dropped at the new two-story Zara, oohed and ahhed all over Frank + Oak, went nuts at NYX and almost had shoe-induced heart attacks at my new favourite store, L’Intervalle.
Now…a little about L’Intervalle. A well-kept secret, L’Intervalle is a Montreal-based shoe store that is – I’m sorry – f*cking fantastic. I stumbled upon it during my last trip to Montréal and my initial very positive impression of the store was confirmed when my fave Canadian YouTuber, Melissa Soldera, profiled it during a shopping haul video. Funny story: I mentioned to L’Intervalle’s store manager that I wanted a specific pair of their shoes because Melissa had profiled them on her YouTube channel. The store manager mentioned that the morning after Melissa profiled the shoes, they sold out of that specific pair in hours. WOW.
So, this little store offers shoes that are seriously stylish and unique, and poor little Ottawa was way overdue for another go-to shoe shop (be sure to check out Wolf & Zed too on Sussex Drive – very nice).
Well, enough “talk” and more pics of the FANTASTIC party. I also took some video to capture the night’s festivities. A huge thank you to CF Rideau Centre for having me!
