I recently met my stylish blogger friend Tara for some laughs over lunch. The day was gorgeous, so I used it as an opportunity to show off my new off-the-shoulder lace dress in the most perfect robin’s egg blue colour.

Tara is so fabulous, she’s a walking Pinterest board. Her sense of style is on-point, showcasing fabulous high-end accessories paired with quality pieces. She also mixes fun, fast-fashion pieces that she adds to her closet seasonally. I’ve learned to take a page from her style book since I discovered her Instagram. As we are both lovers of flattering neutrals and Gucci, she’s a woman after my own heart.
We’ve had a pretty late start to the summer here in Ottawa, with the weather just being…sigh…awful, unless you like endless rain (*Vancouverites everywhere raise their hands*). I haven’t really been inspired to shop for anything summery because there hasn’t really been a point! What’s the sense in wearing those new suede heels if Mother Nature is going to douse them in a downpour?
Speaking of suede, I stumbled upon a fantastic pair of suede espadrilles at a local boutique. I had been looking for a pair of these for years! My “need” for them went into overdrive after I saw one of my favourite bloggers, Lydia Elise Millen, wearing the be-all-and-end-all of espadrilles by Castañer. I tried them, they fit perfectly and bought them on the spot. I floated out of the boutique with a goofy smile on my face, shopping-induced endorphins rushing through me as I fantasized about all the outfits I’d pair them with.
Since I’ve been obsessed with this blue lace dress that I was saving for my upcoming trip to Barcelona, I couldn’t help but pull it out of the closet for this outing. It couldn’t have been more perfect to pair with my fantasy shoes too. I mean, look at the lace! Look at the hemline! It’s truly perfect.
