The Best Mother’s Day Picks For The Beauty Obsessed
With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’ve been pulling together present ideas for my Mom. This year has been a tough one with her mother passing away recently. I want to do something extra special for her once she is back. So, on top of a lovely high tea that I’ll be taking her to upon her return from Barbados (where she is helping out my Gramps), I’ll be gifting her with some of my favourite beauty products that I know she will love.
You see, I got my love of beauty from my mother and grandmother, so it seems only fitting to present her with a basket of makeup and skincare! As a kid, I would rifle through my mother’s makeup bag and goof around with cosmetics – usually using everything she owned on my face at once. Thankfully, I’ve progressed from “Clown Chic” to flattering neutrals, pretty pops of colour, and top-notch skincare. Ok! On to my best beauty picks for Mom!
My mom is a total busy bee, so this gorgeous limited edition palette would be perfect for her. She’s always on the go and rarely leaves the house without a little makeup. This limited edition palette contains everything she would need for a pretty, radiant day look.
It includes:
Eye Brighten: a brightening shadow in a champagne pink hue.
Eye Enhance:This colour adds dimension to eyelids in a naturally glowing shade.
Eye Smoke: a universally flattering chocolate shade that can be built up to a sexy smoky eye.
Bronzer:works perfect to define your cheekbones and jawline in a subtle, natural way.
Cheek Swish: this stuff is my favourite blush of ALL TIME. With its rosy colour, it gives anyone a healthy, happy glow. Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend out for a perfect flush.
Cheek Pop: a perfect pop of pink which makes you look lit from within.
Face Highlighter:a universally flattering highlighter which brings out the best in any skin tone.
This facial oil is incredibly light and absorbs into your skin quickly. No need to worry about looking greasy. This oil gives you a dewy, healthy glow. Made with Camellia and Tamanu oils, it helps skin regenerate its protective barrier. It also contains orchid flower and chia seed oils to smooth lines and boost your skin’s moisture. Sunflower, rice bran and rosemary extracts not only make this oil smell heavenly, they provide an antioxidant shield against environment stressors like pollution. This formulation is best suited for normal to dry skin.
My mom swears by natural facial oils such as almond and jojoba oils, so I know that this will go over really well. I better give it to her fast, because the more I think about it, the more I want it for myself. #terribledaughter
Bonus tip: add a little to your Beauty Blender before applying your foundation. It provides a stellar dewy finish!
Living in Canada, winter and spring (which refuses to arrive), are harsh. Indoor heating and Arctic weather dries out our skin readily. One thing that suffers in particular are lips! It’s terrible! I pretty much own every lip balm under sun and always have a couple on hand.
One I’ve enjoyed is EOS Active Protection Lip Balm in Lemon Twist (SPF 15). It is pretty darn effective at keeping lips hydrated thanks to it containing jojoba, shea butter and Vitamin E. I love EOS’ patented rounded shape which makes it super easy to apply.
With my mom currently in the sunniest island on the planet, I may just pop this in the mail to her asap.
Coachella Coral is the first coral lipstick I’ve seen that looks great on everyone. Most are pretty bright, or too orange, or too reddish, but this one is a lovely balance of all of those colours.
Warm and pretty, it brings out the lovely flush in my chocolate-coloured skin. It was a really nice satin finish, and in true Charlotte Tilbury fashion, this lipstick does not dry out your lips and lasts for hours. Made with “Lipstick Tree” extract, it is full of anti-oxidants to keep your lips soft and protected from UV rays and other environmental stressors.
My mom loves bright, pretty colours and this one is straight up her alley!
This perfume is solely responsible for the huge number of “Jo Maloniacs” out there. Wildly popular, this perfume’s light, fresh and extremely feminine scent is a true crowd pleaser. Featuring the top note of basil, it finishes off with the sweet scent of neroli, white musk (my favourite) and vetiver.
Jo Malone’s perfumes layer really well too with others in her collection. Feeling extra generous? Gift Mom with Basil & NeroliandRed Roses or Blackberry & Bay. They smell wonderful together.
Is your Mom partial to the sexy beach waves look? Hey – you never know. My friend’s Mom looks like Elle MacPherson and rocks beach waves better than anyone I know!
If so, gift her with KMS’ Hair Play Sea Salt Spray and Hair Stay Anti-Humidity Seal Spray. KMS’ Hair Play gives you beachy waves with a ton of texture. This is thanks to it being loaded with salt from the Dead Sea. This texture spray allows for mega-fullness and gives even short hair lovely volume, hold and finish. Super easy to use to: simply spray into damp hair and air-dry. You can also blow-dry your hair for boosted texture.
KMS Hair Stay, according to the KMS site, “acts like an umbrella for hair.” It effectively shields your hair from frizz-inducing humidity for up to 72 hours! Insane! This awesome hair spray also provides beautiful weightless shine.
Mom’s pretty peepers deserve to shine! This budget-friendly mascara is amazing – truly. It comes with one of the fattest, densest brushes I’ve ever seen, separating and lengthening lashes beautiful. This mascara is so great too for those who wear glasses as it really opens up the eyes. At under $10 too, it’s a drugstore gem.
My mom has itty bitty lashes, so I know this super volume-boosting mascara is going to go over really well!
How are you treating Mom this Mother’s Day? Is she a beauty junkie too? Let me know in the comments!

So many great ideas here. I have a Mother who literally has everything – but she doesn’t have any of these goodies! Now Which one to pick…

Haha! My mom is the same. Buying for parents is so hard! For me, the standouts here are the Tilbury cosmetics and that Dermalogica face oil. OH MY GOD.
