Prepare To Be Obsessed With Lancôme’s New Releases – Life-Proof Collection

Until recently, I never really bothered with makeup primers and setting sprays, mainly because I didn’t know how to use them properly. My makeup routine is pretty basic too…slapping on my trusty favourites and running out quickly to wherever I need to go.

Well, it was time to freshen up the makeup routine. While I love my pinky-neutral looks, I was ready to try something new. We also lived through some record-breaking scorching weather and I was tired of A) looking so greasy that you could fry an egg on my face, and B) my makeup sliding off said greasy face by noon hour. Enough was enough!!

Lancôme recently released some new primers, a mattifying stick and a setting spray as part of their Life-Proof Collection that I was curious to try. Personally, I LOVE THIS BRAND as it is effective, high-quality and features a range of classic and flattering makeup, so I’m ready and willing to try anything they release. FYI – Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is the OG foundation of this girl’s makeup arsenal. It is the first foundation I have ever used where I didn’t have to mix it with anything to create the perfect colour. I have been using it for years, and it never disappoints.

So, I’ve fangirled enough – let’s get on with this review. I included a review on YouTube also for your viewing pleasure:

Lancôme Teint Prep & Matte Primer and Prep & Hydrate Primer

I don’t know why I took this long to embrace primers. The Prep & Matte Primer was really effective at minimizing my pores and offering a smooth look to my skin. It kept my skin looking matte but not dry for most of the day. Admittedly, by the time I got home from work, my skin was starting to look pretty dewy.

This product made the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation look blurred out and completely flawless. I was pretty taken aback by how smooth it looked. This light cream felt quite fresh on the skin and had a light, floral scent.

The Prep & Hydrate Primer leaves skin looking radiant and bright. This is a great option for those who prefer a little bit of a dewy look as opposed to matte. Like the Prep & Matte Primer, it is a light, fresh cream that preps the skin for optimal makeup application.

Both products are ideal for all skin types including sensitive skin.

Lancôme Blur & Go Mattifying Stick

I am OBSESSED with this product!! It’s my favourite of the Life-Proof Collection! My skin is so greasy at the best of times that I buy blotting papers by the crate. It’s great to have a product that you can pop into your purse and use as you need, on top of applying it before your makeup. It’s incredibly effective, reducing shine instantly while making your skin look soft and blurred out. There was a resounding “Wooooow” as I applied it the first time.

This product glides on smoothly, leaving a clear finish. It’s suitable for all skin tones and types also. It’s non-sticky, absorbs sweat and shine, and greatly reduces the look of pores and fine lines.

Apply this product to your T-zone with your fingers after moisturizing your skin and before applying your foundation. If your skin gets shiny throughout the day, apply a little more as needed. Again – I seriously LOVE this product.

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

Like I’ve said, this foundation is near and dear to my heart because there is no mixing required for this chocolate girl. My colour is 530 Suede C, a rich brown with a depth of colour that is lovely. While this foundation is light and easy to apply, it covers dark spots and unevenness perfectly.  Oil-free and matte, it’s never drying and leaves you looking pretty velvety and flawless.

Teint Idole is great for all skin types, includes SPF 15, doesn’t cake or crease throughout the day, is fragrance-free and contains perlite and silica to ensure the 24 hour velvet finish. A little goes a long way too, so your $57.00 is money well spent on this lovely foundation.

Lancôme Long Time No Shine Translucent Setting Powder

This silky translucent powder has found a new home in my collection of makeup must-haves. It sets your makeup with just a few swipes of your makeup brush without leaving a white cast or drying out your skin. Even with my dark skin tone, this setting powder made me look perfect and not ashy.

As promised, it helped my makeup last all day and didn’t crease. It also significantly reduced shine. And can I say…this lovely container looks pretty damn good on the bathroom counter.

Lancôme Fix It Forget It Setting Spray

Oooweee! This has changed my makeup game! I’m hooked, using this great setting spray on the daily. No more disappearing eyeshadow, no more reapplying my blush throughout the day (I’m a certified blush addict)…my makeup stays put thanks to this hydrating and refreshing spray. Like I mentioned, we have been living through some record-breaking heat and sweating off my makeup seems to have become my full-time job.

Fix It Forget It has saved me from countless bathroom visits to see if “my face is still there”. Extending the life of your makeup for hours, this formula contains a silica-compound that ensures your skin stays matte all day without looking dry and unnatural. Also, this spray contains hyaluronic acid to smooth skin and kiwi extract and moringa sees to protect skin from pollution.

The Life-Proof Collection is a real goody. Each and every one of these products has seriously elevated my beauty game. I *highly* recommend these products to you guys, especially if the greasies are bringing you down. Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?

Yasssss! My sisters hooked me up on Teint Idole some months ago, they ave been on this for a long time. Although on the pricier side than drugstore finds, it’s worth it! Like you, it took me a while to deal with primers, setting sprays but OMG, I missed out on maintaining my make up through out the day and keeping it fresh. I did have a bad experience when I tried to purchase Teint Idole at Macy’s a few months. The sales rep was rude and somehow, they didn’t have my shade to mix. Odd. Any-woodle, I’ll go back soon, it’s been on my list to get for weeks now.

I am a huge fan of Lancome products for all the reasons you noted here plus they are very delicate on my skin type. I’m basic but sometimes I like to experiment a little more and do the entire, bake, cake, pat, spray and beat my face real nicely. (LOL)

“Any-woodle” – lol! Love it! Yes – Lancôme is amazing. I’ve been a diehard fan for a while now. So sorry you had a bad experience with that person at Macy’s! That’s terrible! Yeah – these primers and setting sprays are changing my life! And that Blur & Go stick? I will always keep it in stock!

Hi girls! I wear very light make up, honestly I am using bb cream or only primer. The last one was from Sephora. I read so many nice comments about prep&hydrate Lancôme primer and I am so tempted to buy it. I just have one question, do you think it would be okay if I put only this primer? I need just to aline color of my skin. Thank you!

Hi Ella! The primer is like a light gel cream. Absolutely zero coverage. You can definitely use it under your BB cream and it will give yu this flawless, airbrushed look though. It also extends the life of your foundation…you could wear it all day…to the gym…whatever ever and the primer will make sure it stays put. It’s definitely a worthy buy!
