Where To Stay

Wellington Willows Cottage

This lovingly-restored, mid-century modern luxury cottage made us all “oooh and ahhhh” when we walked in. Boasting 4 bedrooms, a sunken living room, spacious kitchen, gazebo and two decks, you’ll be nothing but comfortable as you unwind after a long day of wine tastings.

The cottage is the new vacation property owned by Dave and Esther of the Wellington Willows Bed & Breakfast (see below). Located between Bloomfield and Wellington, the cottage is near local wineries, beaches, national parks and great restaurants.

Due to its size, the cottage is perfect for families or a small group of friends to enjoy for a week (minimum five-night stay).

Wellington Willows Bed & Breakfast

Wellington Willows Bed & Breakfast is the top-rated B&B in the world, and it just so happens to be located in the heart of Wellington, Ontario.

This 150-year old farmhouse has been expertly restored and is now a luxury retreat. Enjoy gourmet breakfasts on the multi-level back deck before hitting the nearby wineries.

While each room is stunning, I highly suggest the Sequoia Suite. The sunroom is a serene spot to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. The suite also features a back door to the spacious porch out back.

Wineries & Breweries

Norman Hardie Winery

One of the original four in the county, Norman Hardie Winery offers up some of the tastiest pizzas ever alongside the best reds in PEC.

Oysters at Norman Hardie

This patio offers a great view of the winery as you nibble on marinated olives and oysters and enjoy some pizza (try the Dolce Picante). Some wines you should try out are the fantastic Pinot Noir or a glass or two of the Chardonnay (there are several types of Chardonnay for you to choose from). Love the amazing atmosphere the team has fostered here!

Norman Hardie Pinot Noir

What I really like about this winery is how Norman takes the time to visit each guest and introduce himself. This is such a nice and personal touch that we really enjoy.

Rosehall Run Vineyards

No trip to PEC is complete without a stop at Rosehall Run Vineyards. Owned by Dan and Lynn Sullivan, this winery known for Pixie, my favourite sparkling rosé. Mr. Sullivan is one of the top winemakers in the county and it shows through the winery’s operations and tastings. The staff is fun and friendly, and you’ll feel right at home. Book a wine tasting…you’ll see. Not only will you enjoy the wines, you’ll have a good laugh. Again – the staff is AWESOME (but most County people are).

Closson Chase Vineyards

You will know when you have arrived at Closson Chase Vineyards when the beautiful bright purple barn comes into view. We marvelled at this sustainable vineyard’s beautiful grounds and knowledgeable staff.

Closson Chase Vineyards

Treat yourself to one of their Tastings in the Garden with James who specializes in luxury hospitality. We didn’t know what was better: their world class, terroir-driven wines (great Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs) or the white glove-level service.

Honourable Winery Mentions

Hinterland Whitecap

Midtown Brewing Co.

Ahhhh, Midtown Brewing Co. How I love thee! No trip to PEC is complete without a glass of your India Pale Ale and a plate of Midtown Fries.

This brewery in the centre of Wellington is a must-visit. It’s fun, the staff are awesome and the food is completely delicious. Order the East Coast Shrimp Roll and Schrute Farm Beets and enjoy your trip to heaven.

Parson’s Brewing Company

Parsons Brewing Company, a family-owned and sustainable brewery located just outside of Picton is GORGEOUS. Once it opens fully, take in the gorgeous Tap Room of this heritage building (there are actually two heritage buildings on the site).

Parsons Brewing Company

Known for their popular Crushable Pilsner, they offer up some damn good stouts, alongside tasty Mexican and good ol’ Southern cookin’. Before COVID hit, this brewery was known for its countless events. You must visit and take in the grounds too. Dog friendly, cool staff…and awesome merch. Get one of their cool jackets or sweatshirts for fall!

Where To Eat

Blumen Garden Bistro

For fine dining, head to Blumen Garden Bistro.

Enjoy their old world cuisine under the stars in their fully-licensed garden. With its gazebos strung with lights and pea-gravel pathways leading to various tables, it’s nothing short of magical. Be sure to try out their Pan Seared Arctic Char and Grilled Jerk Rubbed Pork Tenderloin. An incredible menu topped off with service that is 10 out of 10.

La Condesa

La Condesa is a relatively new restaurant serving up authentic Mexican cuisine in Wellington (just steps away from the Wellington Willows B&B and Midtown Brewing Co).

The tacos taste like they were made by God herself, and the margaritas…THE MARGARITAS!!! Get there early – this place is popular and only takes walk-ins.

Slicker’s Ice Cream

Three words: Campfire Ice Cream (toasted marshmallow wonderfulness). Be prepared to fall in love with Slicker’s homemade ice cream that tastes like it was made with love. From Pralines and Cream to Jazzberry to the awesome “Kid’s Breakfast”, you’ll leave with a happy tummy.

Pro tip: Rent a bike from Ideal Bike in Wellington, and bike along The Millennium Trail to get to Slicker’s Ice Cream. You’ll earn that treat!

So…You Like To See And Be Seen…And Shop

The Lakeside Motel

Head to The Lakeside Motel for some of the best people watching in PEC. Full of stylish visitors, The Lakeside Motel is a little slice of LA in Canada. The deck overlooking the water is a beautiful place to enjoy their fine appetizers and sip sparkling wine. Bop along to beats spun by their resident DJ as you take in the chic grounds. Try the Edna Cocktail – whoa!

Oak Clothing Co.

Want cool clothes to wear out and about in PEC? Head to Oak Clothing Co. in Wellington. This little independent boutique offers many cool brands like Pistola, Patagonia, Levi’s, Rollas, Faithfull The Brand – you name it, they’ve got it. Once your done shopping, treat yourself to a great cup of coffee next door at Oak Surf Co.

Sybil Frank Gallery

The Sybil Frank Gallery is a fine art lover’s dream. Featuring paintings and sculpture by talented Canadian artists, you’ll be sure to find something that speaks to your heart. Owner Craig is possibly the most chic person alive.

It really was!! I hope you get there one day. You don’t have to do wineries. The scenery and beaches are stunning! And tons of vegan-friendly options with great mocktails!
