I’m SO THRILLED and EXCITED to be heading to the 2016 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards! Finally – my chance to wear something gala-worthy as arrived!
Taking place Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the National Arts Centre, little ol’ me and my gorgeous hubby will be rubbing elbows with Canada’s art elite.
For the past 24 years, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards (GGPAAs) celebrates and recognizes Canada’s rich performing arts community. As one of Canada’s premiere events, the GGPAAs honours its Laureates (award recipients) as they have dedicated their careers to enriching Canada’s culture and arts community. Previous Laureates have included Oscar nominated director Atom Egoyan, singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan and beloved Canadian band Blue Rodeo.
This year’s recipients include Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark, internationally acclaimed and contemporary dancer Marie Chouinard, among many others. Sadly, Michael Bublé, recipient of the National Art Centre Award will not be performing due to vocal cord surgery (#heartbroken).
I will be joining good friends Katrina Turnbull, host of Capital Style Files and Marilou Moles of Twenty York Street at the star-studded Gala Awards Show, where we will be treated to a glittering performances, a VIP dinner and receptions for audience members at the National Arts Centre.
Tickets are now on sale ($75) at the NAC Box Office and through Ticketmaster. So, grab your finest dress and a date, and come treat yourself to some glitz, glamour and Canadian culture! Be sure to tweet your pics and fun happenings to @GovGPAA using hashtag #ggawards!
See you there!
