Ryan and I have been living in our dream house officially for ten years now. We built it from the ground up, choosing every last detail…right down to every drawer pull in the house.
For the house’s 10th anniversary, we decided to start updating it slowly, room-by-room. We started slow, buying new home decor in the form of vases, plants, art, etc. The furniture though really needed an update, especially with adding Reese the rambunctious Bernedoodle to the mix.

Partnering with Dufresne was a natural choice for quality furniture that could stand the test of time. We also wanted to update the look of our house, so we were thrilled with the amazing selection of modern choices that Dufresne had to offer.

We went in for a consultation with the Store Manager, Adam (confirm), who helped us realize that custom furniture was the way to go. We chose the chic yet comfy Creighton Sofa, two Claudia Accent Chairs and the lovely Paretta Rug.
We opted to customize the furniture as well – choosing the fabrics, arms and legs to put our own personal spin on our space.
The thing we loved the most about our experience with Dufresne was all of the different ways to shop! You could book an online consultation, shop over the phone, participate in a live chat with a knowledgeable sales associate…or do it the old-fashioned way – in store! Loved all of the options, especially now during the pandemic.

The Home Decor Regrets
There are a few things that we regret regarding decorating:
- Not updating our furniture sooner!
- Choosing to paint our home builder’s beige. Sigh – painting to start soon in a lovely, lighter colour.
- Opting to put our built in wine rack in front of a south-facing window. Hello, rotten, warm wine! I fully blame our difficult and aloof kitchen designer.
- Not opting for hardwood floors on the upper floor. Vacuuming the white carpet is a hassle!
- WHITE CARPETING. White carpeting and adorable puppies DO NOT MIX.

Decorating our home with the help of Dufresne was a huge learning experience that has been nothing but positive. It taught us to be thorough and really consider our lifestyle when choosing items.
It also taught us the value of buying high quality furniture to save money in the long run. To see our vision come to life and create such a homey and cozy space has been really rewarding!
