Don’t hate me, but I love Valentine’s Day. I think it’s sweet and romantic – well, the thought of it…not the “speed dating, horrible dates and cheesy gifts” of it.
I realize that I’m very, very fortunate. I’ve been married to my best friend for a long time. We goof off together and laugh together…you name it, Ry-Guy is my PIC (partner in crime). He travels a lot, and when he’s across the world, I feel that a big piece of Dom is missing. We absolutely are not that annoying couple who dresses the same or calls each other “Schmoopy”, but I love the guy. He’s my number one cheerleader. He’s also mastered the art of gift giving…thank God.
I remember one of the first Valentine’s Day gifts that Ryan bought me – a Cypress Hill CD. I feigned happiness while simultaneously wondering if this person knew me at all. Sure, I loved B-Real and his crew, but I was hoping my Valentine’s Day gift would be more on the sparkly side. I look back on that and laugh (especially since that CD turned out to be awesome). These days, my wonderful husband treats me to wonderful experiences like a great meal at fine restaurants, or a night at the ballet. Every now and then, I’m lucky enough to receive a little sparkle.
