Manis and Pedis at Her Majesty’s Pleasure – Amazing Experience

I love getting my nails done, but I rarely treat myself to manicures. I used to be an esthetician and I’m a stickler for perfect nails. I am usually so disappointed when I receive a sub-par manicure – poor polish application and sad nail colour selection are my major “spa” pet peeves.I am constantly on the lookout for new nail salons and interesting nail services such as topnotch nail art. I love the experience of being pampered in beautiful spas that are bright, airy without feeling rushed or being asphyxiated by the chemicals used for certain services (anything that smells as terrible as acrylics MUST be unhealthy).

I had been following Her Majesty’s Pleasure on Instagram for a while and was dying to check it out. Their instagram account is one of my favourites – tons of pictures of beautiful cocktails, amazing nail art and some of the best blowouts and hairstyling I’ve seen in a long time. It seemed to embody everything that I love and could want in a spa – gorgeously decorated, features technicians that are nail art experts and offers a wide range of polish by great brands (Deborah Lippmann, NCLA, Butter London, RGB, etc). To top it all off, it has a full bar, juice bar and wellness centre! I put it at the top of my “Things to Check Out” list during my trip to Toronto.

Located at street level within the Fashion House at 556 King Street West, Her Majesty’s Pleasure’s table-lined windows are the best place to do some serious people-watching. When my sisters and I walked up to the bar, our eyes popped out. It was packed with the ultra stylish enjoying cocktails and cappuccinos over laughs while they waited for their services. The music was incredible and just added to the vibrant, cool atmosphere. On other side of the bar separated by a large glass wall is the long, carrara marble nail bar. Perpendicular to the nail bar is the backlit wall of high-end nail polishes. Also sharing this room but separated by another glass wall is the pedicure area lined with white muskoka chairs and Japanese soaking tubs.

I looked around this jewel of a space and I was just dying! I felt like I had closed my eyes and went to my happy place! This spa/salon honestly looked like a chic Instagram page had come to life. A receptionist took our coats and sat us at the bar while we waited to be seated for our mani/pedis. My sisters and I ordered negroni cocktails and champagne and giggled excitedly as we took in everything around us. To the left of us was the most stylish woman working away on her laptop. Further down the bar was a beautiful couple that seemed to be on a date. I mean, what a great idea! Combining an amazing bar to occupy your significant other while you treat yourself. Owners (and husband and wife team) Sara Kardan and Jeff Armstrong are really on to something here!

Here is a mix of snaps I took during our visit and some courtesy of the Her Majesty’s Pleasure site and instagram page:
