Your Best (Craziest) Assumptions About Me

Ahhh…..yes. Assumptions…those judge-y little thoughts we all have about each other. We all make assumptions, including myself. And let me tell you…I am almost always wrong about my assumptions of others. Like they say, “Never assume. It makes an ‘ass’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me'”.

Personally, I LOVE these assumptions videos that have taken over YouTube. Some of the assumptions us YouTubers get are full-on crazy. I was really curious to find out what you all assume about me, so I put out a call on my YouTube Community feed and Instagram stories for your best assumptions about lil ol’ Dom, and I was blown away. Here are the ones that made the cut, along with my YouTube video highlighting them. Enjoy!

That You’re Rich

I’m soooo not rich. My husband and I are fortunate to lead comfortable lives thanks to having good jobs. We save to buy things we want and work hard for everything we have. I would love to be rich though!

You’re Smart

I’m definitely not a dummy, but I cannot tell you the atomic weight of cobalt like Egon Spengler can. Putting a lot of thought into things is really important to me, as it should be for everyone. A true Sagittarius, I do leap before looking a lot leading to some dumb decisions…but this is something I’ve controlled a bit better over the years.

You Were A Straight “A” Student

I was, although math was not my strong suit. My parents invested in a tutor for me during my last year of highschool to pull up my math grades. Calculus – ugh. What a nightmare.

You Found The Fountain Of Youth Because You Don’t Age And You Aren’t Sharing The Secret

I did find the fountain of youth! It’s located here in Ottawa at Concept Medical! LOL! I take good care of myself, have a solid skincare routine and stick to it. Regular exercise and a healthy diet is also a huge part of my life.

Reese’s puppy cuddles also keep me looking young!

Your Husband Makes A Lot Of Money

This is an assumption that I get a lot and I find it really annoying. My husband has a good job, but so do I! I feel that the designer goods I feature every now and then cause people to think this, along with the trips I’ve taken in the past. The assumption that I do not provide these things for myself is a tad insulting.

Again, especially with designer goods, I have earned on my own. The trips that I take are either press trips with brands or vacations I’ve taken with my husband that we have both saved for. I’m not a kept woman, not that that is a bad thing.

That You Live a Glamorous Life

I do! I’m blessed to have so many luxe, fun opportunities! My blog has afforded me with the chance to travel and have experiences that I will remember for life.

My husband also travels to far flung exotic places a lot and I’m so grateful to be able to tag along with him. He once took me to Paris for Fashion Night Out. I almost died.

You’re Parents Are Diplomats

Uhhh…definitely not. My Dad is a retired machinist and my Mom is a retired data processor. Money wasn’t abundant while my sisters and I were growing up, but we wanted for nothing. They provided really well for us.

You Have Never Lived outside of Canada

I was actually born in London, England. A lot of my family still lives there. My parents and I immigrated to Canada when I was about 2 years old.

Otherwise, no…I have always lived in Ottawa, Canada.

You Have Breast Implants

NO! GAWD. I get this ALL OF THE TIME. I get it. I have a small frame and big boobs. So does every other woman in my family. Promise – they are real and fabulous.

You Don’t Want Kids

No – I don’t, but I love children! I love their energy, positive nature and curiosity. Kids keep me in stitches and literally say the darnedest things.

That being said, motherhood is something I never gravitated towards. I’m an Aunt, and I love spoiling my nephew and then sending him home to his awesome Mom at the end of the day! LOL!

Sometimes, You Want To Be Natural

I do! I love gorgeous, natural hair. The texture, the versatility…it’s errrthang!! My sister Erika has the most beautiful head full of curls and I won’t lie…it makes this relaxed hair sister jealous sometimes!

You Have A Law Degree

NO – haha! But I do love to argue and have been watching Law & Order since it started. That’s something, right??

You Have Been Married A long Time

I have! Ryan and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this June.

You Live In A Mansion And Have a Great Career

I do have a great career! I love my job in emergency preparedness and response as it’s fast-paced and exciting.

Definitely do not live in a mansion, but I love our comfortable home.

You Are A Kind Person

That’s right! I love people. I love meeting them, helping them and paying kindness forward.

Your Life Is Flawless

Absolutely not. I have been through my share of struggles just like everyone else. The last two years were particularly tough. I’m a resilient person though with a great family and super strong support system. They keep me going.

You Are Organized, Fun and Down To Earth

Organized?? LOL! Nope! I can be a bit of a hot mess in that department. I’m trying to get better at that by implementing some great tips my intern has given me.

I’m definitely fun and really down to earth. Many people think I’m high-maintenance, but I’m not. I’m only a little high-maintenance – haha!

You Are Always On Fleek and Have No Hot Mess Days

Definitely have my share of hot mess days, TRUST! Admittedly, I do not leave the house on these days.

I was raised by a fabulous woman who prided herself on always looking put together and she passed that on to me. My grandmother, aunts and sisters are pretty fabulous too…so I can’t help it. I do not leave the house without my hair, makeup and clothes looking good.

You Don’t Like Cheap Hair Products

I do not! I feel that you get what you pay for in this area. You must know your hair though. You can’t use products geared towards fine hair if you have thick, coarse, dry hair. There is no point in buying expensive products that aren’t formulated for your hair type.

Products that cost a little more have better quality ingredients and are therefore, more effective causing you to use less and get your money’s worth. Some favourite brands are Shea Moisture, Joico, Alterna, Carol’s Daughter, and Design.Me.

You Eat Men Alive

This made me laugh because I’m *assuming* that the person who wrote this feels I either date a lot or I’m a heartbreaker. Before I met Ryan, I dated two other people and they both dumped me so…yeah.

I’m a nerd. I can be really awkward. I’m not some flirty maneater.

You Are A Happy Person

Definitely! I love to smile! I’m pretty positive and love meeting new people. Simple things make me pretty smiley too like ice cream and puppies. LOL. You’d think I’m twelve.

You are Super Healthy and Fit

I would say so! I workout a lot. I love to run and bike around. If I had the choice, I would walk everywhere too. It clears the mind and relieves stress.

Eating healthfully makes me feel great too. Yeah – a quarterpounder is God’s gift to the Earth, but you feel like hell afterwards. Well, at least I do. Also, when I cleaned up my diet, my skin got better, I could run farther, I slept better…the whole nine yards.

Coming from a family with a history of chronic illness, being fit and healthy is very important to me. The rising rates of obesity and chronic disease in the world really scares me.

You’re Boujie

I wouldn’t say so at all. I keep it classy. You won’t see me drinking Moët out of a paper cup anytime soon or spending $4000 on a Gucci tracksuit. Those things are fun and actually pretty stylish right about now, but yeah…not very “Dom”. Maybe it’s because I’m an old…but I love seeing types like Migos being very bad and very boujee!
