Last week, I happily attended the Tamara Steinborn Jewellery Launch and Full Moon Celebration at Wunderkammer Boutique, a little gem of a store here in Ottawa on Dalhousie Street.
Wunderkammer (translation: ‘wonder room’) is filled to the brim with enough covetable curiosities to satisfy anyone’s heart. From a beautiful wooden carved whale to clothing and accessories, I could spend hours in the boutique poring over Wunderkammer’s unending offerings.
Imagine my delight when I received my invite to attend Wunderkammer’s Full Moon Celebration X Tamara Steinborn Jewellery Launch! I had been meaning to check out the boutique for ages, especially after my friend Katie picked up a really unique piece of Tamara Steinborn Jewellery for her trip to Tel Aviv Fashion Week. The fabulous Ms. Beltempo also picked up an amazing piece that she styled in such an “on point” fashion that I was sold.
Furthermore, to celebrate the Super Full Moon last Tuesday, October 27th, Wunderkammer provided tarot card readings, reiki, crystal ball readings and henna tattooing. Cool!
Tamara Steinborn’s jewellery is in a category of its own. All pieces are beautifully designed in either 14K gold fill or sterling silver. Tamara’s new line is heavily influenced by female mysticism and strength. This is clearly shown in the picture above of Katie wearing the ‘Oya” pendant (center), named after the powerful African goddess of storms and winds. This necklace would also be perfect for anyone who is looking to rid toxic people from their lives, as Oya was known to bring about sudden positive “structural change in people and things”. The left side of the brain, which controls the right part of the body, is especially adept at logic and fact, and is particularly adept at identifying negative energy and spirits disguised in pretty little packages.
Tamara very generously gifted me with a “right hand” pendant. I love “hand imagery”…I’m not sure why, but I felt that the right hand pendant chose me, and not the other way around. The right hand has a lot of symbolic meaning including assertiveness, mercy, logic, giving and consciousness – not to mention that the right hand is also governed by the sun, as opposed to the left hand being governed by the moon. This makes total sense as I am most certainly solar-powered.
Here are my pictures from this lovely night! Be sure to check out Wunderkammer Boutique, and treat yourself to a beautiful piece of Tamara Steinborn Jewellery!
