A few weeks ago I was presented with an amazing opportunity to work in a styling suite at the Toronto International Film Festival! Dressing celebrities attending red carpet events – could you ask for anything more? To say I was “thrilled” is the understatement of the century.
Once I was confirmed, I sped down to Toronto to get to work. It was like a dream come true – our team would be working out of the multi-million dollar penthouse of the Trump Tower in downtown Toronto. I’m not sure what was more mindblowing – the penthouse suite, the hundreds of designer gowns available, the glittering jewelry or the amazing team I got to work with. I’m still buzzing from the experience!
Now, I have many years of working in the luxury retail sector under my belt which I felt really helped me to land this position. While I hadn’t worked in this capacity in years, it all came flooding back to me once we got started. I didn’t realize how much I missed it!
While I am not allowed to discuss who exactly we styled for red carpet events (bound by a non-disclosure agreement), I will tell you that more often than not, I was starstruck. Toronto is currently overrun with A-list celebrities at the moment, so it was natural to walk to work and “run into” John Travolta, Elizabeth Moss, Elizabeth Olsen, Karlie Kloss (I almost died), etc.

That’s amazing that you actually got to help style celebrities!!!! I’m currently working with ET Canada for TIFF too and one of the interviews we did today was with Luke Evans and omg lol I forgot I was supposed to be working because I just wanted to stare and same when Elizabeth Olsen came in she is so angelic!! Did you take many pictures? We aren’t allowed to take ANY pictures of the celebrities with our personal cameras of phone T_T siigh.
