New Things To Try Now During the Coronavirus Outbreak

Please note that I am not taking this outbreak lightly whatsoever. I fully understand that many do not have the choice between working and staying home. This post comes from a place of lightheartedness and I want to spread a little joy during this time.

If you are faced with hardship due to the COVID-19 outbreak, here is a Canadian resource to help you: Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan: Support for Canadians and Businesses.

With nation-wide orders for people to work at home and/or self-isolate during the coronavirus outbreak, a few people I know are going a little stir crazy. I get it. I’m a people person and I would get cabin fever real fast being cooped up 24/7. Personally, I’m okay with it because we all know its for the greater good.

Now is the perfect time to do all of those things you have been meaning to do or wanting to try. Here is a list to help you along, get you motivated, keep you positive and stay healthy and happy.

Online Wine Party

My friend Emma is the most thougtful genius. Last night, she sent me a text that read: “Pour some wine. I’m calling you in 5.” Me being the dutiful friend poured a little rosé and awaited her call. We talked, we laughed and it boosted our spirits. We are now scheduling regular telecon “wine parties” until COVID-19 mercifully retreats.

Take That Online Class

Learning is my jam, so during my downtime, I’m taking a few online classes. So far, I’ve taken an online class to enhance my supervisory skills. The online “Pantry Challenge” I watched last night was awesome (this challenged people to make new recipes out of ingredients they already have in their pantries). I’m also sharpening my YouTube skills by watching all sorts of tutorials on how to better serve my YouTube community.

Brag to your friends – take an online course offered by a revered Ivy League school. Course list here.

Perfect Your Makeup Skills

The makeup aisles at your local drugstores are running dry. Why? Because makeup lovers forced to work from home are apparently perfecting their cat eyes, red lips, blending, cut creases, you name it. Hey – we all know that if you are working at home…you ain’t workin’ all the time, so why not blend away? With the kabillions of makeup tutorials on YouTube, now is the perfect time to get your MUA on. Here’s one you can try:

Live Online Workout Classes

There are so many gyms, pilates and barre studios, etc. that are offering online live classes to their members. There is no reason to loaf about with this sort of awesome service! It’s obviously good for your mind and spirit too. We should all be doing whatever we can to stay as healthy as possible. For those of you in the Ottawa area, Where I Thrive has been offering remote fitness classes.

Remember, there are also a ton of fitness apps you can download for at-home workouts too such as:

Binge Listen Your Fave Podcasts

While meal-prepping last night, I took the time to listen to a fave podcast (Bill Simmon’s The Rewatchables is BINGEWORTHY). It was therapeutic!

The Atlantic provided a list of best podcasts of 2019 right here (Spooked is AMAZING).

So, what are you up to while at home during the outbreak? Please share what keeps you busy and happy in the comments. We would all love to know. Stay safe and happy, people.

Ha! Same! I’m loving the wash ‘n gos and not bothering too much about my hair. It seems to be really happy about that! I nabbed a few nailpolishes with my online grocery run. Excited to try them! xo
