On May 2nd, I attend the launch of the Fleurs De Villes exhibit at the Bayshore Shopping Centre here in Ottawa, Canada. There was no way I was missing this event as it combines two of my favourite things: flowers and fashion.
Upon my arrival, I was stunned at the gorgeous array of mannequins styled in dresses made entirely of flowers and organic material. Dresses featuring blooms, feathers, twigs, moss and pearls adorned the first floor of the Bayshore Shopping Centre, delighting VIP guests and shoppers alike. I walked around in awe staring at these works of art that took creativity to a new level. One mannequin in particular made my jaw drop. Dressed entirely in large white blooms, with a “hi-low” skirt made of roses and baby’s breath, I wondered how on Earth the florist created this. To top off this bespoke look, the mannequin donned a headdress of white roses and anthurium. It took my breath away. Guests were encouraged to vote for their favourite look, and I immediately voted for this ethereal mannequin created by the very talented The Design Co. Ottawa. Take in the work of art below captured by Paul Couvrette of Couvrette Photography (http://www.couvrette-photography.on.ca):
I was in good company, joined by my fellow Ottawa bloggers and VIPs here in the city. We enjoyed tasty hors d’oeuvres, champagne, wine and laughs. Organizers Karen Marshall Ducommun and Tina Barkley outdid themselves delivering an event so unique and special that I’m sure we’ll be talking about it for a very long time, A very memorable night indeed. Enjoy the collection of photos I snapped from this beautiful evening:
Fleurs De Villes will be continuing on its cross-country tour soon but it’s not too late to enjoy these gorgeous floral installations. The exhibit will be on display at the Bayshore Shopping Centre from May 3rd to 7th, 2017 before its next stop in Burlington, Ontario.
Featured florists are Kelly’s Flowers, Blumenstudio, Trillium Floral Designs, The Design Co. Ottawa, Flower Essence Florist and more. Come vote for your favourite too…you might just win that grand prize of a trip to lovely Paris!
Flowers and fashion — how stunning. I know this is an exhibit, but I feel like a lot of celebs could have worn pieces like this to this year’s Met Gala.
