Recently, Instagram added a fun little feature to their stories where an IGer can have their followers ask them questions. I thought I would try it out and was completely overwhelmed by the response! Thanks so much, guys!
I couldn’t answer all of them as my stories would have never ended, so I thought I would list the ones you ask the most frequently here so you could check them out!
How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
I am 5’8″ and weigh 129lbs.
Are you married?
Yes – I’ve been married to my lovely husband Ryan for 14 years.
Do you have kids?
Do you want kids?
Are you sure you won’t be missing out by not having kids?
I’m pretty sure. Motherhood is not for me. Don’t get me wrong – I absolutely love kids! I love their sweet innocence and fun energy, but my husband and I decided early on that children weren’t for us. I can’t wait for my sisters to have kids though so I can spoil them and give them back at the end of the day! LOL!
How often do you relax your hair?
Every eight weeks. Longer than that and I start to notice breakage, and it becomes difficult to manage!
How did you get started with blogging?
Three years ago, my husband suggested that I start a blog since I loved fashion and beauty so much. He got me tickets to the grand opening of Nordstrom here in my city and I covered it on my blog. People started reading! I was shocked to see the amount of page views I started getting!
I always loved creative writing and photography, and started writing about anything that pleased me. Collaborations with fellow bloggers in my city soon came afterwards and it all started snowballing after that.
In November 2016, I really got serious and attended Spark Sessions, a blogging conference in Toronto. The featured speakers were some of my favourite bloggers who shared their tips and tricks, and I met a ton of public relations contacts. That was a game-changer right there.
How is Reese? What breed is he?
Reese is so great! He is my seven-month old Bernedoodle puppy. A Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Golden Doodle (half golden retriever, half poodle).
He has the loveliest personality – super affectionate and cuddly, and he is a major goof. He keeps Ryan and I laughing constantly.
I will admit, I had no idea a puppy would be that much work! Holy Jesus. He’s smart and wily, and gets into EV-RY-THANG. When he was teething, he was a holy terror. My legs are covered in scars! Training him to do some things was really hard like not biting us to death, but we hired a trainer and now he’s the best pup. He’s literally my cuddlebug.
What is your workout routine
I workout about twice a week with my two trainers Dave and Mark at Premium Performance Fitness. Dave created a tailored personal training regime perfect for me and I’ve seen amazing results.
Running is a big part of life for me too. I try to run twice a week but it has been hard this summer with the merciless heat wave and frankly, my life is super busy. I’m also getting over bronchitis so running without hacking up a lung has been hard lately. I usually run at least once a week.
I also walk a lot and ride my bike which is totally my favourite form of exercise. My portable Bose speaker makes biking that much more fun too.
Where are you from?
I live in Ottawa, Canada, but was born in London, England…Redding, to be exact. A lot of my family still resides in London. My parents met there as teens, got married, had me, then moved to Canada. Sadly, I have no trace of the cool British accent, guvnah!
My mother is Bajan (from Barbados) and my Dad is from Grenada (a small little island above Venezuela). Both are tropical paradises.
Do you blog full-time?
No…not yet – maybe someday! I work in emergency preparedness and response within the public health realm. While I really love my work and I’m grateful to have a steady income, I would love to try blogging full-time one day.
What do you eat to stay so thin?
I don’t believe I’m thin…I am slender and love the few curves I have! I am pretty careful about what I eat. I eat several small meals a day and don’t eat too many carbs. For instance, for breakfast, start with water and lemon, I eat scrambled eggs, sliced avocado, sometimes I’ll have smoked salmon and I always have one cup of coffee.
For lunch, I normally have salads with some protein like salmon, steak or chicken. For dinner, I love chicken kebabs, roast chicken, fish and lots of veggies. Sometimes I’ll have tofu, more salad…so on and so forth.
Now, I LOVE FOOD. I also love wine. I try to limit my alcohol intake but I’m pretty weak when it comes to wine and champagne (I try to cut it off at two glasses or I’ll be hanging from the chandeliers). I also love anything sweet. I’m addicted to anything with caramel in it, dulce de leche is heaven, candies, ice cream…you name it. I sneak spoonfuls of honey and I’d eat white, granulated sugar with a spoon if no one was watching. I hate myself. LOL!
Who is your favourite blogger?
I love Aimee Song of Song of Style. She’s adorable and I love her style. I read I’ve Got Cake a lot, one of the first blogs I ever started following. Dana is hilarious, her style is on point, and she is hella good at cooking. I’m also obsessed with Patricia Bright (she’s really a YouTuber), because she’s freaking hilarious and completely authentic. I don’t read too many blogs, actually. I’m more inspired by the people I know and inspired heavily by my favourite magazines like Harper’s Bazaar and GQ.
Do you have siblings?
Yes! I have two amazing sisters, Erika and Alice. They are my heart! They are quite a bit younger than me but are both wise, old souls. Erika is the epitome of a free spirit, and Alice is a quiet observer. When she does actually talk (lol), what she has to say is deep, meaningful and usually hilarious.
How is your Dad doing??
He’s doing great! His new kidney is functioning really well and he’s back on his feet. At the beginning of the summer, he started running and playing soccer and golf again. Super happy!
What are your favourite hair products?
The Joico Moisture Recovery line is literally liquid gold. My hair loves it! I also use Schwarzkopf Bonacure Repair Rescue Shampoo and Deep Conditioner. They are super hydrating!
How old are you?
Thanks for reading, guys and keep the questions coming!
