On Saturday night, June 2nd, 2018, Ryan and I along with several friends attended the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards (GGPAAs), Canada’s highest honour for the arts.
I had the pleasure of attending two years ago and the event was spectacular. Frankly, “spectacular” is an understatement. Glam is turned up to 100% as attendees wear their finest, including me who finally go to wear my fabulous gown.
This year was a great one for the GGPAAs, as for this was the first time in history where more women were honoured than men.
Those honoured this year were singers Tegan and Sara, philanthropist Florence Junca, modern dance choreographer Ginette Laurin, actress Geneviève Bujold, pianist Angela Hewitt, singer/songwriter Murray McLaughlan, comedian Andrew Alexander and NAC Head Peter Herrndorf.
I had a pretty starstruck moment at the GGPAAs as I was seated two rows behind actor James Cromwell who has been in some of my favourite movies like Babe and The Green Mile. I also met some blogging idols of mine, the uber stylish Caillie and Sam Beckerman of The Beckerman Blog. Seeing fashion editor Suzanne Boyd and stylist Jessica Mulroney was pretty cool too!
Enjoy!
Well don’t you look like a dream in this gorgeous black and gold number. One of these days I need to wear a gown with a long train like this. So stunning.

Ahhh Cheryl! You’re too kind! I LOVE THAT DRESS. Other than my wedding day, I’ve never felt more beautiful!
