Balmain Killing It With Newest Campaign Featuring 90s Supermodels

I woke up this morning to a Vogue alert stating that Olivier Rousteing of Balmain managed to reunite my favourite 90s supermodels (imo, the ONLY supermodels) for his latest campaign.

I pretty much dropped my phone in shock upon seeing these amazing and artful black and white pictures shot by Steven Klein.

Rousteing was interviewed by Vogue and offered the following:

“ This campaign is about what makes me love fashion, and these three women are exactly that. These three women are what made me love fashion yesterday, make me love fashion today, and are going to make me love fashion in the future.”

“All the people who love Balmain have this nostalgia of the power of fashion in the ’90s when models were iconic—and this is always what I push. . . . When you love Balmain, you love Cindy, you love Naomi, and you love Claudia. It’s natural because they are iconic, they are powerful, and they are strong—and they make a lot of people love fashion.”

Here are the shots from the campaign which are pretty much making me pump my fist and shriek in delight:

This is the best Balmain campaign in YEARS. They look stunning! He is right, these women are powerful and iconic. I’m so happy the supermodels are back! I don’t really have a favorite… Maybe Cindy, I don’t know. How about you?

Hi Luiza! Thank you so much for reading and I completely agree – the only supermodels are those from the 90s and this is the best campaign I’ve seen in a long time! My favourite, hands down, is Naomi Campbell with Linda Evangelista as a close second. xox

Hells yessss! So excited. They look fab!!!! Such a strong campaign, current but with that touch of nostalgia. I’ve always loved Claudia. She’s my hairspiration. Back in the 90s I just would have done anything for lockes like hers!

Why no Christy?! She’s my favourite. Linda was my 2nd.

I love Christy too. Such a beauty…and seemingly so normal! Don’t get a Naomi-like diva vibe off of her at all.

      • January 8, 2016 / 8:44 pm

Yes Naomi assaulted her maid, do you remember that? She’s a total diva.

        • January 8, 2016 / 10:03 pm

Lol – yeah. Didn’t she do it twice?? #psycho

Hands down… one of the greatest campaigns to grace our 21st century. Such a relief to see ‘real deal’ supermodels back in action as oppose to the Kardashian’s or celebrities pretending to be supermodels, making a complete mockery of themselves. Regardless of how crazy Naomi is … I completely admire her.

In one word : FABULOUS !!! My favorite is Cindy Crawford 🙂 and now I want to see the George Michael clip Freedom again 😀 Love, Kathleen

  7. January 10, 2016 / 9:07 am

ok… I watched the clip and I was dancing in my kitchen opening a bottle of red 😉 (got caught by my 13 year old but she wasn’t really surprised by the looks of it!!)

I saw this via French Vogue Twitter account and I looked through immediately! Absolutely stunning! Would love to have seen Alek Wek in that line up; she truly is one of a kind!

    • January 11, 2016 / 12:27 pm

Oh my – Alek Wek!!! I forgot about her! How could I?!! She was interviewed by Oprah once and she seemed like such a sweetheart!

      • January 19, 2016 / 3:34 am

She is extremely intelligent too! I have seen a couple of her interviews. She’s very composed and she answers very thoughtfully…

        • January 20, 2016 / 11:19 am

Exactly! She is a real breath of fresh air! xo
