Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the third annual Vélo Vogue Fashion Show here in Ottawa, Canada. It was SO INCREDIBLE! I have never been to such a fun, whimsical event! The show featured amazing fashions from local and international designers and boutiques such as Twiss & Weber, Victoire, Viens Avec Moi (all listed here), the most amazing collection of new and vintage bicycles, and décor that transformed the Maker Space North warehouse into a dreamy wonderland!
Not only was this event totally cool, it raised money for Right Bike, a social business which trains and employs those in the Ottawa community working to overcome barriers to employment. With their fleet of purple commuter bikes, Right Bike partners with local businesses and organizations to provide a bike sharing service in Ottawa, promote bike safety, and has also become a centre for bike mechanic training and employment. I love the setting of the venue with the bicycle wheels hanging from the ceiling; also they use some of the ‘real people’ on the run way which I like a lot!

It really was amazing! Very unique and fun! I guess it’s a trade-off. I live in a somewhat-boring conservative city that has managed to grow an amazing creative arts community, and you live in a fantastically beautiful, historic, cool European city (that has much better weather)!
