The First Snow – Ecco Ukiuk Boots

This past weekend, we experienced our first snowfall and it was beautiful. I know, I know – I always complain about the cold, but I really did appreciate how our city was transformed into a winter wonderland overnight.

“The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment, where is it to be found?” – J.B. Priestly

The winter wonderland truly ushered in the festive season! It never really feels quite like the holidays without a blanket of snow covering the ground, and this first snowfall delivered.

Since our winters are so, so, so cold, I normally put function before beauty. This winter season though, I have to admit, I was tired of looking more “Arctic explorer” than “stylish fashion blogger”. I made a promise to myself to up my winter wear game.

Winter boots though – sigh. It is truly hard to find a pair that combine style and function well. Most are heavy, bulky and frankly, ugly. The super cute ones usher in hypothermia. What is a girl to do? She gets her butt to Ecco.

I chose these cozy Ecco Ukiuk boots because I loved their minimalist look. Really easy to style, they are also super warm thanks to their natural lambswool lining. The upper is made of 100% leather which is soft and supple, and the soles are so grippy, remaining on your feet in slippery conditions is guaranteed.

I took them for a whirl this weekend out for lattes and bombolones with my sweet friend Alyssa, and then out to lunch with the handsome Darling Husband. By the time lunch rolled around on Sunday, we were in a full-on snowstorm. The boots kept me on my feet while I ran for cover, dodging snowballs lobbed at me by my husband (not funny!), and they looked great while sitting by the fire, enjoying lunch at one of our favourite restaurants.

What do you look for when you shop for winter boots? Are you more concerned about style or function? If so, these Ecco Ukiuk Boots offer both. Treat your feet!

*A big thank you to Ecco for the boots in exchange for my honest opinion!

I’ve never heard of these boots before but now I want some! They’re like a more classic version of UGGS!

I may be a bit biased because I work for Ecco, but they are so comfy and warm and soft! Thank you for writing such an honest review and I’m glad you enjoy them!
