The Best Accessory Trends For Spring 2016

I’ll admit it.  I’m not the best accessorizer. I like to keep things simple, so you’ll rarely see me donning a giant logo-covered bag, statement jewelry of any sort (I do love a huge cocktail ring though), crazy body chains that look like something out of a dominatrix’s chest of goodies, huge belts, etc. I gravitate towards delicate gold jewelry, pearls and diamonds (of course). When I go shopping, I can usually spot a pair of gold studs from a mile away amidst a ton of in-your-face cocktail jewelry.

I love Alexander McQueen, but this body chain is a bit much.
This spring though, fun accessories abound.  From embellished bags to “daytime tiaras” (thanks, Paris Hilton *side glance*), there is a ton of fun options to choose from.

So, I’m going to let go of my conservative accessory hangups and dive right into all of the gorgeous options that spring 2016 is bestowing upon us.

1. Embellished Bags

I am loving this trend! I love the whimsical fun feel of these beautiful options from Anya Hindmarch, Chanel and Gucci. Definitely eye catching and unique.

2. Blinged-out Headbands, Flower Crowns and Daytime Tiaras

Flower crowns and blingy hair accessories continue to be popular and these are two trends that I’m definitely down with. I’m not sure how easily this tiara trend will be to pull of in everyday life, but I’m just crazy enough to don a crown to the grocery store to pick up some milk.

3. Industrial Jewelry

Industrial jewelry is big this season. Lots of heavy cuff bracelets, grommets, leather, chain links, buckles and burnished metals. These are looks I’m happy to embrace, but I put my own feminine flair on this modern trend with my trusty Osolee pewter-coloured leather cuff covered in chains, rhinestones and studs. Given to me by the stylish Lee-Ann Lacroix, a local jewelry designer, interior decorator and sommelier, I’ve gotten a ton of wear out of this eye-catching piece!

I splurged and treated myself to a Tiffany Bone Cuff – a piece I’ll treasure for life.

4. Chokers

I am SO HAPPY about this trend! I find chokers to be super sexy, easy to wear and they elevate outfits featuring v-necks and button-up shirts. Anything drawing attention to the neck and collarbone is good in my book!

5. Long Necklaces

Long necklaces are making a comeback. I love the 70s vibe that long necklaces bring to an outfit. I have a few of them that I wear regularly, my favourite being my Jenny Bird Palm Rope.

What accessories can you not live without? Any new spring 2016 accessories you are really looking forward to? I know I will be getting myself a smaller watch (smaller watch faces are a new trend) along with finding a super soft slouchy leather bag. Can’t wait to get shopping!

Great post my lovely friend! Thanks for sharing it ♥ I love accessories and bags, but I don’t know why I always tend to forget wearing jewelries, and I hate changing my bag! haha I guess its time to notice the smallest details!
Wishing you a wonderful day ♥

Honestly, that’s why I like delicate jewelry. I have a thin gold chain that I rarely take off that looks great with everything, and I always where my little stud earrings. Again, they look great with everything. As for bags, I switch them up constantly! Too many beautiful options – it’s a shame to keep them hidden in the house! Hope you are well and thanks for stopping by, Dana! xoxoxo

Gorgeous! I love those bags as well… Moschino is so fun for in your face bags.

But your Tiffany cuff steals the show ?

    • January 27, 2016 / 10:21 am

Awww! Thank you! I love that cuff. I can’t believe that after years of lusting after it, I finally own it! Thanks for reading!

Love that cuff on you and your outfit is on point in the last pic! ?

    • January 27, 2016 / 10:19 am

Hey Joy! I’m totally obsessed with that cuff! Most of the time, I’m too afraid to wear it for fear that A) my outfit doesn’t live up to it and B) I’ll lose it! xoxoxox

So does this mean wearing a tiara is acceptable fashion now? If so, I’m in! haha

    • January 27, 2016 / 10:18 am

LOL! Me too. Let’s save together to scrape up the £2000 to buy it! We can share it! LOL! xoxox

Accessories are the best! I buy basic pieces of clothing that will last, some stand out pieces here and there, and the accessories are needed to vary up my look. I tend to wear a lot of monochrome and I love buying colored shoes. I know this sounds slightly old school, but I crochet and autumn/winter are my months because of the cowls I’ve made and arm warmers.

I’m going to need to invest in an embellished bag and cuff!

    • January 29, 2016 / 11:19 am

That doesn’t sound old school. That sounds awesome! I wear a lot of monochrome and black monochrome too. Love that you include a pop of colour with your shoes. I’m going to try to up my accessory game this year. Thanks for reading, Rachelle! xoxox

Love the flower headbands, doubting whether I could pull it off though. The industrial jewellery is gorgeous – subtle enough for everyday wear and LOVE the long necklaces 🙂

    • January 29, 2016 / 11:16 am

Hey listen, if I could pull off a flower crown/headband, so can you! LOL! xoxox

  9. January 28, 2016 / 10:19 am

I’m loving the industrial jewelry trend! Definitely going to have to hop on board 🙂

  10. January 28, 2016 / 10:23 am

Beautiful post. I am a big fan of chokers. Especially something in silver or diamonds.

    • January 29, 2016 / 11:15 am

Oooh Charu! I agree! I’m on the hunt for some chokers now. I made a black velvet one with some leftover velvet ribbon! xo

I love the emoji bag it is so unique and I used to wear embellished tiara all the time!

    • January 29, 2016 / 11:13 am

Well Ana, I think it’s time to pull that tiara back out! I love that emoji bag too. So cute! Thanks for reading!

Reading this reminds me of the time I wanted to be a fashion stylist and I would follow trends so closely! 🙂 I love it!

I kind-of love the idea of a daytime tiara. 🙂

So, funny story that I think you’ll appreciate. The other day, I had a truly terrible hair debacle. I often curl my bobbed hair in tight ringlets and then shake them all loose before spraying, which is usually my only method of getting the loose bouncy romantic curl that works for me. For some reason though, that night, I just couldn’t get my curls to relax. I looked like Shirley Temple!! (Oh no!)

I was going out of on the town with girlfriends, and I felt a little mortified, but in a moment of desperation I just grabbed a beaded elastic headband and pulled it down over my forehand in Gatsbyesque fashion, deciding to just go with the tight-curled flapper look.

At the restaurant, I can’t tell you how many compliments I got on my “roaring twenties” hair and my sparkly “crown.” It was all I could do not to laugh. 🙂

So. Two morals to this story: 1) Crowns can be fun, and 2) Sometimes beauty-disasters are really just happy accidents in disguise. 🙂

    Enjoy all those fun accessories!!

OMG Ashley! I hope you took a picture! Your hair sounds fabulous! I have a similar story where I bought a sparkly, stretchy headband and wore it to work. My name has been Princess Tiana ever since…lol! I tell ya – my hair is so thick and heavy that I can “hear it laughing at me” when I try to curl it. Curls last approximately one second and turn into tired waves. Oh well. I tell people it’s my sexy bedhead/Parisienne look. xo

      • February 17, 2016 / 9:29 pm

I’m sure that sexy bed head look is ** fabulous ** on you!! Why not? 🙂

        • February 19, 2016 / 3:16 pm

Hahaha! It could go either way. Sexy bedhead or homeless woman. Sigh.

          • February 21, 2016 / 10:06 pm

            You? Homeless hair? Never. 😉

          • February 22, 2016 / 1:58 pm

Ooooh – I dunno, Ashley! LOL! Thank you! xo
