Strut Jewelry

There are a few things in this world that are definitely worth the money and classic, understated jewelry is one of them. I’m a sucker for jewels, and like a magpie, I’m very attracted to anything sparkly.

Over the years, I have been slowly building a jewelry collection that I am very proud of. Each major occasion, such as my 30th birthday, getting accepted to my university program or coming into a little cash, I treat myself to something sparkly and special.

There are a few rules that I adhere to when buying these pieces. I look for versatility (my pearl earrings and necklaces), a dash of glam (diamond solitaire earrings), hardiness and wearability (solid gold bangles) and sometimes, a little drama (Elsa Peretti bone cuff). Now, until I reach the sort of status where I can go all “Elizabeth Taylor” and buy giant diamonds on a whim, I’ll stick to my tried and true jewelry acquisition method of scrimping and saving for something special (or dropping hint bombs on the Darling Husband).

In the meantime, I always keep my eyes peeled for pretty, attainable pieces such as anything from Strut Jewelry. This line can only be described as chic, effortless and gorgeous. Every single piece complements each other, featuring beautiful semi-precious stone touches, glints of gold and silver and special details such as hammered detailing and other intricate metal work.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alyssa, owner of Strut Jewelry, several months ago at a fashion show. She was displaying her collections before the shows started and I instantly fell in love with her on-point designs. From midi rings to amazing statement necklaces, Alyssa had it all. Amazingly, each piece was handmade by Alyssa and the attention to detail was spectacular.

I’m so proud to own a couple of her pieces, such as the Paua Shell Crescent Moon Necklace and Gold-fill Wrap Bangle Bracelet, both of which have become favourites in my collection and finish off any outfit beautifully.

Alyssa’s beautiful pieces can be found in Ottawa at Magpie Jewellery, online at www.strutjewelry.com, on Facebook , Twitter and Instagram. Go on…treat yo’ self. I’m sure you’ve done something lately to deserve it! xo
