As per usual, I found this gem of a skirt while looking for something I really needed. Yes – it was an impulse buy, but when is a silver leather skirt not an impulse buy?

I was on my way to Spark Sessions, a blogger conference in Toronto and required an outfit that was professional, meant “business”, but was also fashion-forward. As I left shopping for such an outfit to the eleventh hour (give me a break…I was suffering from a flu that absolutely knocked me on my butt), I was coming up really short on options.
I hurried into Zara on a cold-medicated high, looking desperately for a dress that would make me stand out from all of the other eager bloggers, but everything seemed pretty run of the mill. As I headed for the exit, something platinum-coloured and shiny caught my eye. Me, being a human magpie, was instantly attracted to its silvery sheen and I was got closer, I got more excited. There it was…a platinum mini-skirt!
“I DO NOT CARE WHAT THAT SKIRT COSTS…IT IS MINE!!!” I croaked to myself, laryngitis in full swing. I picked it up and swooped into the fitting room. The skirt’s zipper caught on something…a tag that proclaimed that the skirt required special care as it was “fine grain leather”. LEATHER. Omigod. I grabbed the price tag as my heart sunk, worried that it blew my blogger conference outfit budget. “$69.90” is what the tag read. That was it – sixty-nine dollars and ninety cents. It was mine. I was so rife with the flu, I don’t even remember if I took the skirt off as I 100-metre dashed towards the cash desk. All I knew was that it was perfect, it was real leather, it was SILVER.
I had the perfect sweater to pair with it too. An ultra soft, dove grey v-neck I scored from RomWe. The RomWe sweater was just casually perfect enough to highlight a silver mini-skirt…just perfect enough to make it ok to wear to a suburban café for amaretto lattes with my husband. Hey…if you can’t wear a silver miniskirt out for a latte with your husband, who can you wear it with?
This silver belle will be making great use of this skirt throughout the holiday season. I’m already having fun dreaming up places to wear it.

Thank you, Ivana. I agree! A real eye-catcher!

Aww Alyssa! Thank you! We are due for another coffee date! These pics were taken quickly yesterday. I was feeling way better and had total cabin fever. I begged Ryan to take me on an outing!
What made buying the silver skirt easier was that I knew I could get a lot of wear out of it. I’m investing in a great white button down shirt (your influence – thank you), and that will look bomb with the silver skirt! Can’t wait!! xoxoxo
I probably would have done the same thing if the skirt was gold. I’m becoming mildly obsessed with the color. #AllGoldEverything It looks GREAT against your skin tone and you definitely stand out. I certainly hope that you are feeling better!

Hey Courtney! Thanks for your kind comment! Yep – on the mend and feeling way better. Girl – if there was a gold option, it would be mine too! You ever see those Saint Laurent booties that look exactly like the ones I’m wearing but in gold glitter? Boy – that is one expensive pair of shoes that I would have been very ok with acquiring! LOL! xoxoxoxo
Love the silver and white colors!
