For the first time in a long time, I’m excited about Valentine’s Day. With each passing year, the Day of Love has felt like just another day…and I’m not knocking my wonderful, romantic husband. We just don’t really celebrate it.
This year though, we wanted a bit of a change for February 14th. The usual cursory exchange of drugstore chocolate and a few kisses in the dining room over dinner was sad. I took charge and booked a lovely dinner for two followed by some live music at one of our favourite restaurants.

Mercifully, the temperature is warming up so I can wear one of my favourite pink outfits of all time. I don’t normally gravitate towards this much pink, but I wanted to wear this sweet, little dress and Valentine’s Day only comes once a year, so…what the hey?
While perusing the sale rack at Joe Fresh, I stumbled upon this blush sweater. It was a mere $6.34. Don’t ask about the weird, ultra-low pricing. Personally, I just made a mad dash for the cashier just in case it was a mistake (#terrible). It was the only one left too and happened to be a large, which was great. Its loose, easy fit looked great with my boyfriend jeans that day and I fell in love. Best $6.34 I ever spent.

A few weeks later, after a marathon session of screwing around on the computer, I thought I’d checkout Shein to see the latest offerings. I found this pink carnation-coloured, crushed velvet dress for $12. TWELVE DOLLARS! I immediately added it to my cart and hoped for the best.

When I received this dress and tried it on with bated breath (stuff from Shein can go either way), it was gorgeous but hugely revealing thanks to its super low-cut neckline. It sat in my closet for months, sad and unworn.
Recently, while tearing up my closet looking for something, I found the dress and sweater and thought: “Hey – these may just work together!” The rest is pretty-in-pink history.
Well, with that, I wish you all a wonderful Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day! How will you be spending it?
