I was just invited to join Sassique – an international community of fashion enthusiasts who collect and share style inspiration from around the web, think Pinterest meets Polyvore. Sassique is a pretty interesting platforms as they also do trend forecasting, market research, street style photography, and design competitions.
With your profile set-up, you are encouraged to complete their interview which was great! I thought I’d share my answers with all of you. Read on!
Q: Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
A: I was born in London, England and raised in Ottawa. Still calling Ottawa my hometown.
Q: What have you studied, and what are you doing now?
A: I studied Psychology and I’m now a project manager.
Q: Links to your style networks?
A: I am friends with some talented photographers, bloggers and designers in the Ottawa and Toronto networks. They have all been so encouraging, supportive and friendly!
Q: How would you describe your personal style in 3-5 words?
A: Off-duty model
Q: Where do you shop? Luxury or high street? New or vintage? Boutiques? Online?
A: I shop everywhere. I don’t discriminate! I do most of my shopping online though as it is so convenient, and when I do actually feel like hitting up the stores, I prefer to give my money to the great independent boutiques in Ottawa.
Q: If you had $300 for a shopping spree, how many items would you buy?
A: Probably one or two. I try to go for quality over quantity.
Q: Do you prefer street style fashion or runway fashion?
A: I prefer street style, but I most certainly appreciate the art of runway fashion.

Q: What do you splurge on? Skimp on?
A: I splurge on designer handbags, skincare, makeup and jeans. I skimp on basic tees and tanks.
Q: When and how did you become interested in fashion, and where do you find your inspiration?
A: I think my interest in fashion is pretty inherent. All of the women in my family are extremely fashionable, so I have been surrounded by great fashion since I was little. I find a lot of inspiration from reading my favourite blogs, magazines, tv shows, movies, and my stylish friends!
Q: Who are your favorite style icon(s)?
A: Grace Kelly was so ladylike and beautiful, along with Elizabeth Taylor. I also love Aimee and Dani Song’s relaxed style. Diana Ross’ 70s/disco style was killer too.

Q: What are your favorite fashion blogs? Magazines?
A: My fave fashion blogs are Peace Love Shea, Gary Pepper, Jetset Justine (super stylish AND funny), SoSasha (great fitness inspo) and Cocktails and Luxury (great YouTube videos incorporated with her blog).
I have a subscription to Harper’s Bazaar, which I absolutely love, along with GQ. My two absolutely favourite magazines.
Q: What do you love about fashion? Not love?
A: I love the versatility and uniqueness of fashion. As long as you are confident, you can wear anything. I also love fashion as art, for instance, couture dressmaking is truly a beautiful art. I really appreciate the work that goes into quality design.
I do not like the snobbery of the fashion world at all, or the inaccessibility of some brands…but what can you do? That’s why consignment is so great!

Q: Your favorite designers & brands?
A: I love Alexander McQueen! I LOVE HIM. I travelled to London to see the McQueen exhibity at the V&A Museum and it was an absolute dream. I love Alexander Wang and great Canadian designers such as Pink Tartan and Judith & Charles.
Q: Do you follow fashion trends? Which ones?
A: I follow some trends. I jumped on the “culotte bandwagon”. I’m also totally embracing this great bright purple lip we are seeing everywhere!
Q: Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
A: My only fashion rule really is make sure your clothing fits properly. If it fits perfectly, even an outfit from Forever 21 can look amazing. Otherwise, just do you.

Q: Which would you be best at? Worst at? (Stylist, Designer, Photographer, Buyer)
A: I think I would be not so great at styling, actually. I’m good at dressing myself, but I’m not so sure that I have the confidence to dress someone else.
I think I would be a great designer! With my razor-sharp focus on great fit? Yeah – I think I could pump out a kick-a$$ clothing line.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: My dream job would be to turn my little blog into a success. Bloggers and vloggers such as Tanya Burr, Aimee Song and Chiara Ferragni are super inspiring!

Q: What are your other interests? How do you spend your spare time?
A: I love to garden – I have some gorgeous rose bushes that are my babies! I also love photography. I travel a lot too. One of my favourite things is to travel to some faraway destination and just explore and try to become one of the locals!

Hope you enjoyed the read!
