I’m being heavily influenced right now by one of my favourite bloggers, Garance Doré. A while ago, I picked up her Love Style Life book and ate it up. Garance Doré seems so approachable and warm – likeability just radiates from her. She is frankly the only popular blogger I know that I would love to have at my table for dinner. I would pepper her with important questions like: “Have you always been so fabulous?” and “Can I be French too?” We would laugh over wine and cheese and we’d be BEST. FRIENDS. FOREVER!!! *Sigh*
Seriously though – her effortless French chic is my goal. In addition, the menswear influence in her wardrobe is fresh and interesting. The perfect white dress shirts, cropped trousers, beautiful overcoats, cute little gamine hairstyle…I want it all. Garance takes all of these looks stolen from the boys and adds her own feminine, personal twist so well that she pulls off a sexy, androgynous look beautifully.
Now, in a past post, I whined about how I was too tired to pull together great outfits in the morning. Well, I started a new habit of picking out my clothes the night before. This allows me the chance to style my clothing in new and different ways. Case in point: this gauzy silk and cotton shirt that I found languishing at the back of my closet. I paired it with a new pair of Citizens I scored a couple of months ago and a pair of prized brogues from Barker’s England.
I always dreamed of a great camel coat and I found one online from www.zaful.com. I wanted one that looked chic, didn’t break the bank, and still looked of high quality. This coat checked all of those boxes, especially at $49.99 and I’ve been reaching for it often. The colour is highly flattering and the long lines are classic, yet its cocoon-like feel is very right now. I ordered it up and it arrived in record time for a day trip to Montréal where I wanted that extra je ne sais quoi.
I think I channelled my style idol Mme. Doré quite well. All I needed that day was for someone to ask if I was Parisienne….
Who is your favourite blogger (ahem…*cough cough*)? And do you have a piece in your wardrobe that channels La Nouvelle Garçonne?
Thank you to Zaful for this lovely coat in exchange for my honest opinion.
A beautifully put together look. Loving the shoes.
