Hi all!
The lovely Sophia Smith will be guest blogging on Style Domination today about styling up the classic beach look. Enjoy!
The sun, the waves, the cocktails… For the most of us, hanging at the beach is one of the top summer activities, and getting the perfect beach look doesn’t have to be a challenge.
The most important element of the beach style is a swimsuit, and this season’s offerings are more fashionable than ever. Beside a swimsuit or a bikini, a perfect beach look should involve lightweight, casual and stylish garments which enhance your existing look.
The essential elements of a beach look is a fabulous swimsuit, cool sunnies and a fab hat. Although it’s simple and casual, great beach style should reflect your creativity and individuality, so refresh your outfit and try out something different and playful for this summer.
Boho Inspiration
The boho ideology – love and peace – is the perfect inspiration for your new beach style. Effortless and casual, yet chic and romantic, the boho look is perfect for summer days. Short, swishy dresses, transparent maxi skirts, kaftans, denim shorts, loose t-shirts, and the materials they’re usually made of (like cotton, linen or lace) are a perfect combination for the day at the beach. If you choose a simple look, don’t forget to embellish it with some hippie-inspired accessories.
Ladies – let’s avoid heels at the beach, PLEASE. If you want to wear something more stylish than the usual flip-flops, try flat-sandals, gladiators or a low wedge-heel.
The Mediterranean Inspiration
One of the hottest fashion trends for this summer is the Flamenco trend, and what is more appropriate for the beach look than the spirit of the Mediterranean? Express your passionate nature and add some ruffles to your outfit. Try an off-the-shoulder shirt, a strappy dress, flowing culottes and ruffly rompers. The Flamenco trend is all about bold colors, floral prints, and hints of gold.
For a less dramatic, but still Spanish-like look, tie a sarong over your bikini and add a big flower to your hair. Whether it’s a bikini or a one-piece swimsuit, this combination is sensual and impressive.
Timeless Inspiration
If you want to add some character to your outfit, it’s not necessary to go with a new and unfamiliar style. A new and bold twist is all you need to add a tried and true look. If you feel more comfortable with classic clothing with simple cuts, monochromatic or black and white combinations, you should stick to them. Find an appropriate swimwear model and combine it with elegant shorts, a great skirt, or a patch-covered denim jacket as a top. a big look this season? Throw on an oversized boyfriend tee over your bikini top and knot it at the waist.
Accessories are a necessity in these kinds of combinations, but they should be elegant and simple. Since hats are a beach must-have, if you want to inject a bit of Hollywood style glamour into your look, you could choose a large, floppy brim style straw hat.
From the hat to the sandals, getting dressed for the beach is much more than just choosing between a bikini or a one-piece swimsuit. Often times, the choice of a beach outfit will depend on the occasion. Most importantly, don’t be too stressed about it. After all, the top beach goal is to feel relaxed and comfortable, margarita in-hand while frolicking in the waves!
