Ending Festival Fashion Week on a High Note! Style Domination and YOW City Style Store Feature: NRML Select

Today’s store feature on NRML Select will mark the last in my weeklong store feature collaboration with Katie of YOW City Style.  This has been one of the most fun projects I have ever completed!  A huge thank you to VAM Boutique, Neon Clothing Corp., Twiss & Webber, Victoire, NRML Select, Vincent and Top of the World for opening your doors to us! We have met a bunch of wonderful people and learned a lot during this process. Best of all, we have made a ton of friends and we are thrilled to feature and promote these boutiques to our readers!

Westboro is one of my favourite neightbourhoods in Ottawa (anywhere, for that matter actually).  Just a little west of the downtown core, Westboro is a wonderful mix of beautiful homes, great restaurants (be sure to check out Pure Kitchen), cool and interesting people, and some of the best boutiques in the city – NRML Select being one of them.

Located on Richmond Road in the middle of Westboro’s eclectic shopping strip, NRML Select is your go-to shop for such luxe brands as Comme des Garçons PLAY, Whitney Eve, Mink Pink, Triwa, Rag & Bone and Malin+Goetz. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this spacious boutique.  My little sisters always told me how cool this store was, but I never had the opportunity to check it out. Imagine my delight at seeing a big selection of Daniel Wellington watches and a collection of amazing Rebecca Minkoff bags that I’d never seen before! SCORE!  It was abundantly clear that you could buy an entire festival fashion wardrobe from NRML Select, as they offered a covetable selection of cool footwear, rompers, palazzo pants, bomber jackets, cute tees, tanks, dresses…you name it, they have it and we want it.

With my research, I learned that NRML has been around since 1997.  It originally focused on cool sneaks and street culture.  The original store offered a great collection of hard-to-find brands and exclusive, limited edition pieces.  Their location on Rideau Street boasts an impressive collection of over 300 pairs of shoes and over sixty diverse labels for customers to salivate over.

NRML Select in Westboro would be your high-end version of NRML’s Rideau Street location.  We oohed and aaahhhed over the Comme des Garçons PLAY t-shirts, cute little t-shirt dresses and gorgeous floral bomber jackets by BB Dakota.  I will be definitely going back to snag a cute little Rebecca Minkoff Sydney bag. One thing I noticed with all of the boutiques that we have featured this week is the wonderful staff!  NRML Select is no exception.  Katie and I were greeted by their store’s friendly sales associates and manager, DJ. They always manage to make you feel at home and like you’ve known them for years.  They also clearly love what they do, as they can speak at length about their love for the store, teach you about the brands they carry and all of the carefully curated merchandise available.  It’s a really nice change to have such personalized customer service from the boutiques we’ve featured this week!
