The key to surviving the cold is to bundle up and enjoy it. Thankfully, instead of frostbitten days, we are enjoying an unseasonably warm winter. Hibernating actually seems less like a reasonable option this year.
My sweet friend Emilie contacted me to go scope out the trails in Beechwood in search of some photo inspiration and I am so happy we did.
We were thrilled to find a snowy trail with countless dogs frolicking around with their owners. The trail was dotted with beautiful pine trees dusted with snow, along with sumacs with their elegant limbs topped off with red seed pods. Now, I won’t pretend to like winter, but I can’t help but marvel at how beautiful it is, especially after a snowfall. Top that off with an adorable photobomber named “Winston”, this chilly January day was great.
For our shoot, I thought I’d wear my well-loved houndstooth coat. I planned on selling it at the blogger closet sale that I’m organizing with my friend Amanda, but couldn’t bear to part with it after trying it on. Paired with my bright pink lips, it looks fresh and new again.

You look great– It’s so nice to see an actual winter outfit that is warm and looks good. Ever notice how so many winter coats are worn open (with a light sweater underneath) for photographs? This proves you can be practical and fashionable.

Omg. I am guilty of this. The weather here where I live is so cold, and the winter so long, that we have no choice to go outside improperly dressed for outfit shots. The light is so great and the scenery so beautiful that it’s hard to resist. This time though, it was so damn cold, I couldn’t bear to lose the coat!!! Lol! Thanks so much for your kind words!
