This past weekend, the Canadian Thanksgiving, was spent with friends and family. Comforting and full of laughter, we gorged ourselves on a meal that I made from scratch with all the trimmings: turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, harvest vegetables and more pumpkin-based desserts than you can dream of. While my dear sisters and mom were missing as they were away, I still managed to have fun, despite being in a tryptophan-induced haze for the better half of Sunday.

Leith Jumpsuit – Nordstrom Ottawa | Fringe Hat – Nordstrom Ottawa
This time of year is particularly beautiful with the sugar maples turning bright, happy shades of orange and gold, and the weather just cool enough to wear your favourite cashmere sweaters. I managed to escape downtown over the weekend and take a walk in the market under the sunshine. I wandered to one of my favourite spots, under the city’s War Memorial which is also an old secluded underpass surrounded by the Rideau Canal and leading to the locks of the beautiful Ottawa River. It was stunningly gorgeous and “I give thanks for living in such a beautiful place”. I truly do.

During my last shopping outing to Nordstrom Ottawa, I bought a few pieces that I love…that I have already been getting a lot of wear out of. This particular outfit, a fun black and white window pane Jumpsuit by Leith is so great, I thought I’d wear it for my little outing. Incredibly flattering, soft and so comfortable, I walked around for hours in it. Beautiful from both the front and behind (it has a lovely keyhole back detail), it induced a ton of stares, and a mom and daughter duo who were out and about stopped me to ask about it. I pointed them in the direction of Nordstrom in the Rideau Centre and they ran off towards the mall. Now, THAT makes me happy! I paired it with my Fringe Hat also from Nordstrom, that I wear on a daily basis. Hats are totally underrated and I love that this one polishes off any outfit.
While this jumpsuit fits my like a second skin, I tied my lambskin obi belt around the waist for a polished look. A treasured piece in my wardrobe, I bought this belt at a fine leather goods store in Paris with my friend Jenny. That day was so great…how often do you get to tour Paris with one of your best girlfriends, topped off my top notch shopping!? I live a good life!
Enjoy these pictures and a glimpse of my beautiful city of Ottawa!
