My Skincare Hack For Bright, Glowing Skin

After  a month in Spain and England where I was drinking wine daily, loading up on way too much sodium (fine hams and cheeses, anyone?) and not sleeping enough, my skin looked horrible. Seriously. This was the roughest my skin had looked in a while. Throw in sitting in the sun for hours on Estepona’s pretty beaches, and my skin looked like a lunar landscape. When I got home,  I immediately reached for my favourite brightening serum.

I looked closely at my skin and noticed that I had some dark spots, along with unevenness on my face. I also needed to curb the little zits that took residence on my forehead, further making my skin look dull and lifeless.

The Face Shop’s Yehwadam Pure Brightening Serum has been my go-to for clearing up such problems. It’s fine formulation is geared towards brightening skin first and foremost. In addition, it helps to reduce fine lines, pigmentation, dark spots and dull skin tone. That right there pretty much described my post-Europe face.

Yehwadam Pure Brightening Serum is pretty fancy. It contains pearl powder! Yeah – you read that right. The pearl powder helps to reflect light offering a beautiful glow.

My oil glands were on overdrive after sitting under the sun for too long and I constantly looked greasy. I had to park my heavy moisturizer and face oils for a bit as they just felt too heavy. This serum though has a really nice and light moisturizing quality. In fact, for the first couple of weeks after returning from my trip, I used it as a moisturizer.

Note: Yehwadam has a fresh, floral scent. I know some of you prefer unscented products. I did notice that the floral scented eventually went way after about 30 mins or so.

I’ve now been home from Europe for almost three weeks and I feel like my skin has recovered. The greasies are gone, my skin is more even, the few dark spots have lightened considerably and my skin feels and looks glowy thanks to this serum.

Have you tried The Face Shop’s Yehwadam Pure Brightening Serum? You should check out the The Face Shop asap. They’ve just entered Canada! Ever had issues getting your skin back into shape after indulging too much? Share in the comments!

*A big thanks to The Face Shop for this press sample in exchange for my honest opinion.

GIRL! I am all about the skin brightness!! This one is quite nice and I actually love that it’s a little thicker and more moisturizing than your average serum. My skin is definitely looking up!

Hey Cheryl – I hear ya, girl! If you do get it, use it 2-3 times a week only. It has some skin lighteners in it and careful application is required in order to not overdo it!! xo

I am cracking up laughing at a lunar landscape. That is freaking hilarious. I got serious about my skin care a few months ago and I see great progress.

My skin is in good shape right now but I know I will need to pay more attention to it as I get older. This serum sounds like something I need to invest in.

My number one piece of advice? Sun in moderation! As black women, we have natural protection, but we do sugar sagging from too much sun. Find a good sunscreen and pretty hat if you are going to sit in the sun for extended periods of time!

Thanks, Tiffany! Here’s a little skincare advice: I’ve had great luck sticking to using products from one line. So, get a toner, cleanser, serum and moisturizer all from the same brand. They are formulated to work together. Good luck! P.S. Drink lots of water and get lots of sleep!

Oooo pearl powder. Your skin does have a nice glow to it! I’ve been pretty good to my skin lately. I do need to drink more water though since that’s the foundation for great skin and good health.
