Why You Need To Try An Overnight Mask | Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Overnight Firming Mask

One thing that I will be committing to in 2017 is babying my face. Age is creeping up on me “like an unstoppable rebel force” (sorry, I just finished watching Meet The Parents), and I am determined to look as fresh-faced and beautiful as my mom, who looks 40 despite being 65.

Something that I have been researching over the past few months are overnight masks. These lovely thick and rich creams are applied right before bed as a last step in your beauty regimen and work their magic while you sleep. I have tested out a couple overnight masks and this Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Overnight Mask is the winner.

So, what exactly is an overnight night mask, you ask?  It is simply a thicker, heavier moisturizer worn overnight and rinsed off in the morning which tightens, firms and brightens skin. It’s a great opportunity to further repair skin and boost cell turnover and hydration while you catch your Zzzzzs and dream about warmer climes. By the way, does it ever stop snowing?

Korean women have been devotees of rich overnight creams forever and these “glowy skin in a bottle” formulations are finally infiltrating the North American and European markets.

Elizabeth Arden’s overnight mask promises to”firm, tighten and lift the look of skin” while you sleep. This firm, jelly-like mask is infused with amino acids and minerals to diminish wrinkles and Elizabeth Arden’s patented “fragrance technology”  provides a calming and relaxing environment to help you sleep. Amazing! The mask does smell quite nice, but those sensitive to fragrance may want to test out a sample first.

So…my testing process… Thanks to reading Estée Lalonde’s Bloom: Navigating Life And Style book (and becoming obsessed with her blog and YouTube channel), I have incorporated little “spa nights” into my weekly skincare routines (Estée is a huge proponent of Sunday Night Spa Nights). While my husband screams at the Green Bay Packers on tv, I retreat to our ensuite bathroom, draw a luxurious bath in our oversized tub, and get to work before sinking into the warm bath water. Cleansing, secondary oil cleansing, nose strips, clay masks/sheet masks and neck treatments, I do it all. After the bath, I then apply a healthy layer of the Elizabeth Arden mask after applying my Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster Serum and climb into bed.

A really great read!

The following morning, I rushed to the bathroom mirror to see the results. My face did look noticeably brighter and refreshed! I actually looked like I got 12 hours of sleep, which made me extremely happy. My skin was also smooth as a baby’s behind, and I noticed that I had an “airbrushed look” after applying my favourite foundation. That was a good day.

I would highly recommend this overnight firming mask to those looking to boost their skin’s quality. This mask is safe for all skin types too, even those prone to super oily skin like me.

Have you tried Elizabeth Arden’s Ceramide Overnight Firming Mask? What did you think?

A huge thank you to Elizabeth Arden for providing this sample in exchange for my honest opinion.

Dominique, your skin really does look healthy and radiant in that photo!
Like you, I’m HUGE believer in “babying” my face/skin (and self care rituals in general!). I suffered from acne for years before eventually getting it under control and finding my “go to” products. So, I’m definitely a product junkie and have numerous things over the years.

This night mask sounds divine! I may have to get my hands on it soon! 🙂

Hi Bria! Thanks for your kind words! I suffered from acne for a really long time too and I’m so glad it cleared up. I found products that really worked for me and I’m totally sticking with them, despite loving testing new beauty products. Elizabeth Arden is a highly underrated brand. Her skincare and cosmetics are fantastic!

Your skin is so radiant and glowing! I definitely need to take better care of my skin, I’ve struggled with acne most of my life and I’m currently dealing with all the scars left behind. Do you think something like this would be helpful with brightening while lightening scars at the same time?

Hi Dahlia! Thank you for your kind words and for reading! Means a lot! Ok – after years of consulting with my dermatologist, the only way really to lighten scars is to stop the acne. Have you seen a dermatologist? She or he could help you out greatly. Not only can she assess your skin and give you some great recommendations, she could provide you with a prescription to clear up the acne. Once the acne is cleared up, she can also prescribe something to lighten scars.

This cream is quite heavy, and if you are suffering from acne, I would get a sample and test a spot first before delving in and spending the $90 for the cream. There are some great lightening creams too buy Vichy and La Roche Posay that can help with dark marks you have right now…but like I said, you must banish the acne first (easier said than done), or else it’s a vicious cycle.

Take care and stay in touch to let me know how it goes! xo
