SD Beauty Review: Skinnamon Body + Face Coffee Scrub

Hi all!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Derly of Malachite + Elephant, an online beauty store specializing in ethical beauty, health and wellness. As I’m highly interested in all-natural, safe, ethical beauty products, I was thrilled to have Derly reach out me to review some of the beauty products her site carries!

In my research, I was pleased to find out that Malachite + Elephant adheres to a set of principles that really speak to me, such as offering ethically traded products, organic products free of carcinogens and harsh chemicals, cruelty-free with no animal by-products, little carbon footprint and eco-friendly…all socially responsible traits that we should all be aiming for.

I also loved the sweet reasoning behind the name of her company, “Malachite + Elephant“.  As a child, her grandmother brought her back a small elephant made of malachite from one of her many travels. Derly explained that it is one of her most treasured possessions and she felt it brought her luck throughout her life. Malachite stone has many amazing properties too – it is revered for its circular striations within it’s lovely, deep green tone.  It’s believed to be a stone of transformation, assisting with spiritual growth and protection from negativity.  Elephants are symbols of strength, patience, happiness and loyalty – all traits that I hold very dear.

Derly was kind enough to provide me with Skinnamon Body + Face Coffee Scrub. I was thrilled as I always wanted to try these coffee scrubs that I was noticing all over YouTube and Instagram.

Skinnamon Scrub promises to exfoliate, hydrate, nourish and tighten skin on the body and face. Users have also noticed diminished age spots, wrinkles and blemishes, along with reducing acne.

Excited, I got right to testing it out. I used as directed – in the bathtub or shower before bathing, which is excellent advice because this stuff can get messy! Scoop some of the product into your palm and massage into skin in circular motions.  Scrub all over your body, including your face. Start with your extremities, rubbing in circular motions towards your heart.  This product is gentle enough for use on your face and lips, but that being said – be gentle and avoid the eye area!  Leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse off.  Voilà – super soft, glowy skin!

The product was lovely and the oils melted and absorbed into my skin. Unlike other scrubs such as Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish, this was not super oily and greasy.  It rinsed off easily in the shower and left my skin extra moisturized…so much so that I skipped moisturizer after showering.  I patted my skin dry with a towel, and I still feel extra hydrated.

Skinnamon Scrub has a strong coffee smell (obviously) with hints of spices such as cinnamon and clove.  Thankfully, I didn’t smell like Starbucks after using it. It is very coarse, so please rub gently into your skin and use extra care around your eyes. I scrubbed the product a little harder into my feet, and they look great – no more dry skin.  Now, a little goes a long way and you may want to measure out some of this product into a bowl prior to use.  This product would be EXCELLENT for use during our cold, harsh Canadian winters!

Ingredients include ceylon cinnamon, robusta coffee, organic brown rice, Himalayan salt, organic raw sugar, almond oil, cold pressed essential oils, minerals and vitamins.

Skinnamon Body + Face Coffee Scrub is 100% all-natural and made in New York City.  Interested?  Head on over to the Malachite + Elephant site to order here!  Malachite + Elephant provides international shipping to all my global friends!

If you try out this product, let me know what you think in the comments!

Coffee scrubs are my favorite. Honestly, I usually make them at home with ingredients I have on hand (I smell a blog post out of that sentence) but this one looks amazing!

Yes, I make my own as well because no need to waste my cold brew coffee grounds when I can scrub them and have amazing skin!! But in the states there is a popular brand “frank” that I have yet to try. I will look into this one too!

Yeah – Frank is super popular up here in Canada too. The Skinnamon was lovely! It smelled incredible. I think it’s great that you make your own! Do you add some spices to make it smell nice, along with olive or coconut oil? xo

It sounds like it’s amazing. I’ve used olive oil, and coconut oil and then mix in other goodies like honey!

I’m always hesitant to use rough grain scrubs. I have this vision of them ripping away my skin GRIN and while I do use Fresh on occasion (yes, it’s really quite oily, isn’t it?) as well as Tatcha’s Rice Powder Scrub, I’m not a big fan in general. That said, you do sound as though you had a lovely experience with this particular product so I might give it a shot. Thank you for sharing 🙂

Hi Sheela! I did like this scrub very much. I probably wouldn’t use it on my face again, as I prefer toners and masks for exfoliation purposes. Again, this was great on my body and especially my feet. I LOVED how it smelled!! Thanks for reading!
