Ok….so, I may have went a little crazy with a favourite AHA cleanser leading to some severe forehead dryness. Sigh. In my quest for glowy skin in the dead of winter, I didn’t take my own advice and overdid it with a product notorious for being harsh.
My skin felt sore and beaten up. I needed help fast – like, yesterday. My forehead was peeling like crazy and it looked rough.
I have had a nice little package from Origins Canada sitting on my desk for a while now waiting to be tested. It was full of Dr. Andrew Weil’s Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief…and frankly “Relief” was all that I saw. I grabbed it and got to work knowing that Origins is pretty good stuff.
I knew Mega-Mushroom products (well, anything from Origins Canada, really) were good, but when I opened up the Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Face Cream, I was sure it was going to work nicely. Why, you ask? Read on…
The Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Face Cream is perfect for those suffering from red, dry skin. It’s calming and perfect for sensitive skin. That being said, its formulation is suitable for all skin types.
Rich and creamy, it felt soothing the minute I put it on my itchy, dry forehead. It immediately calmed down the stinging and felt like a dream.
I mentioned this product to a friend suffering from some dryness and a few mild blemishes. The first question out of her mouth was: “Does it smell like mushrooms???” No – it doesn’t at all. It smells fresh, yet earthy and a little herbal. Promise, you won’t end up smelling like mushroom risotto.
Made with Dr. Weil’s special mushroom blend, it is super hydrating and leaves you glowy. I had a nice break in the sauna during a spa day and slathered this on my face and neck afterwards. My skin felt dreamy and looked glowy and beautiful. I looked like I got a week’s worth of sleep!
Micellar cleansers are a great way to remove any stubborn makeup that you missed while cleansing your face. They also balance your skin which prevents breakouts and slows the aging process.
This no-rinse, soap and alcohol-free cleanser contains Dr. Weil’s fancy mushroom blend along with an anti-oxidant rich berry ferment.
I personally really liked this because it didn’t leave my face feeling tight and dry. Bright and clean, more like it.
Soak a cotton pad with the cleanser and gently wipe your face after cleansing with the Mega-Mushroom Skin-Relief Face Cleanser. Boom – you’re golden.
WOW. This product is my FAVOURITE of the bunch! My scaly forehead drank it up! LOL! Gross, I know…but it’s true! My forehead was so parched that nothing really was working until I tried this.
This isn’t one of those clay masks that can be a little harsh. This rich cream is applied liberally to the face and then tissued off after 10 minutes. I grabbed my copy of The Lying Game (damn good read!!) and chillaxed while this luxurious mask did its thing.
After wiping off the product, my skin looked and felt amazing. Seriously – the dryness was really diminished and the act of removing the product acted a bit as an exfoliant. It ridded me of a lot of dry skin and instantly soothed the stinging.
I’ve been blasting through this product with really great results! The dryness is officially gone.
Before applying this Soothing Treatment Lotion to your face, give it a good shake! It’s full of natural ingredients that settle at the bottom of the bottle.
After cleansing my face and before applying the Soothing Face Cream nightly, I press this Soothing Treatment Lotion into my skin with my fingertips. That act alone is relaxing and calming, especially right before bed.
This lotion is light and refreshing and perfect for sensitive skin thanks to its gentle ingredients.
If you have trouble pressing this water-like lotion into your skin with your fingertips, use a cotton pad for better control.
I have been using this line now for a couple of weeks and my poor little forehead is now healed! My skin also looks hydrated and healthy, and I chalk that up to using these products religiously.
Dr. Weil’s Mega-Mushroom products have a cult following. Have any of you tried them? What is your favourite?
*A big, glowing thank you to Origins Canada for providing these samples in exchange for my honest opinion.
