How To Get Your Skin In Tip Top Shape For Spring: OxyGeneo™ Super Facial | Nakota Spa

Nestled away in Barrhaven lays one of the best kept spa secrets in Ottawa: the OxyGeneo™ Super 3 in 1 Facial at Nakota Spa.

I was invited to experience this bright and serene little spa located at 5 Nakota Way. One of my priorities for spring/summer 2017 is to get my skin in tiptop shape. It suffered a blow after a terrible flu in the late fall for which I’m still recovering. I took one look at my pallid face and quickly accepted the invitation to experience an OxyGeneo™‘s Super 3 in 1 Facial.

I met with Anu, the warm and friendly owner of Nakota Spa. A beautiful lady with enviable skin, she explained  that despite being an internal auditor for a Crown corporation, her true passion was skin care (I hear ya, lady). Anu discovered the OxyGeneo™ Super 3 in 1 Facial after trying various other skincare treatments like microdermabrasion and chemical peels in preparation for her daughter’s wedding.  She was amazed at the results: no downtime, soft, firmer skin, diminished fine lines, reduced hyperpigmentation and more. She was sold and opened her own home spa offering OxyGeneo technology. As she told me of the finer details of OxyGeneo™, I couldn’t help but stare at her skin which was glowing. I needed some of that glow too, especially during these winter doldrums.

I was thrilled to learn that this treatment was safe for all skin types and ethnicities. OxyGeneo is particularly great for those who scar easily or suffer from acne and can’t otherwise have abrasion treatments.

After a rundown of the technology and treatment courtesy of Anu, I got comfortable on her heated spa bed, and she prepped my face for the facial.

This facial consists of three treatments:

Treatment 1: The Oxygeneo 3 in1 Super Facial

Exfoliation

During the exfoliation process, the upper layer of dead skin cells is removed using a wand with a “capsugen” capsule on the end. After applying the NeoBright gel to my face (see below under “NeoBright”), Anu massaged the wand into my skin to exfoliate as the capsugen capsule reacted with the gel to form carbon dioxide bubbles (see below under “Oxygenation”). This step smooths and renews skin prepping it for active ingredients from the gel. Despite being relatively gentle and lasting only eight minutes, I only lasted four as I’m a wimp (it stung a little). In Nakota Spa’s defense, my skin was a little sensitive already.

Infusion

While exfoliation was underway, infusion was also in process.  All sorts of good ingredients from the gel such as hyaluronic acid, peptides and antioxidants to assist the skin with cell turnover and rejuvenation were being absorbed, resulting in new, radiant skin.

Oxygenation

This next step of the facial was my favourite. Carbon dioxide bubbles are formed on the skin’s surface and gently burst, sending oxygen-rich blood flow to the area. This creates greater absorption of the active ingredients. This particular step felt really cool and refreshing!

Treatment 2: Enhanced Ultrasound Infusion

The exfoliation was followed by 12 minutes of warm and soothing enhanced ultrasound infusion. This increases the skin’s ability to absorb the ingredients from the gel.  These absorbed ingredients continue to work long after the facial is over.  Afterwards, I found that my daily moisturizer absorbed better after this process.

Treatment 3: NeoMassage

Once the exfoliation and ultrasound infusion was over, I was treated to 10 minutes of Neomassage using Infinite Aloe Moisturizing Cream! Now that was the icing on the cake!  

NeoBright

Anu used the NeoBright Formula on my skin. NeoBright, a bright yellow gel, contains azelaic acid to even pigmentation and decrease pigment-producing cells. Additionally, it contains kojic acid to lighten hyper pigmentation and brighten skin naturally. Lastly, the gel is loaded with retinol (Vitamin A) to reverse signs of anti-aging. NeoBright is particularly amazing for acne-prone skin. Most clients suffering from acne notice a huge reduction in breakouts after only a few treatments.

The Verdict

Well, let’s just say that I floated on out of Nakota Spa once the treatment was complete. Not only was I totally relaxed thanks to the super comfy bed with heated sheets, my skin looked AHM-azing!!! My face was noticeably brighter and it was definitely softer. I examined my skin closely in the mirror and everything looked plumped up! It was incredible! I had hyperpigmentation around my mouth from a terrible laser hair removal experience a couple of years ago and the scarring was noticeably lighter after one treatment. I was seriously amazed.

The best part of the treatment is that the effects get better a week afterwards! By the seventh day, little fine lines on my forehead were virtually non-existent, a giant zit scar on my cheek had faded substantially and my skin had never felt softer. That was the exfoliation to end all exfoliations!

Those opting to try the OxyGeneo facial should be aware that sun exposure is NOT recommended directly after this treatment. Stay out of the sun for a few days and apply a good quality sunscreen, available at Nakota Spa, such as Cyberderm daily.
